I taped this, too -- just in case. I would describe my reaction as "underwhelmed." I didn't stop watching in disgust after fifteen minutes. On the other hand, the characters and story lines weren't really involving, and I didn't find myself looking forward to the next episode when the first two ended.
On Friday night at 10, I'll be watching Battlestar Galactica instead.

Hot off the press:
This doesn't have a place on NBC's spring schedule and is presumed dead (exact quote). They only made 6 episodes. (From an article about NBC shuffling things, cancelling others, etc).
No surprise to us! Still, my mom was enjoying it, and I know I will too when I get them.

Rob Morrow, Judd Hirsch, the always-entertaining Peter MacNichol, that whiny-voiced Diane Farr of Rescue Me, and crisp, smart scripts. No contest, I'm afraid.

Heard it last night: "Book of Daniel" has officially been cancelled.

Yes, it didn't really "take," did it?
I watched the episodes aired and they were entertaining enough, but it was a seriously bizairre show. I wanted to support it because it wasn't a clone of...well, anything that's overdone these days. Still, it wasn't funny enough to be a comedy and it wasn't serious enough to be taken seriously as a drama.
I heard that the people in the Religious Right are being smug and taking credit for the cancellation, but they aren't what caused it. Lousy ratings are what killed this show. Period. I think people can see the remaining episodes through the internet somehow. I won't bother.
I did like Aiden Quinn, though.

I'll still miss it. I love dramas about church, ministers, etc!

Finally got the tape from my mother and watched the 2 hour pilot. Still have 2 more episodes to go (only) I loved it! This would definitely have been a must see for me, I would have recorded it every week! Good mix of humour and drama. I was not offended by Jesus, I thought it was a great portrayal. I liked the nods to current Anglican issues as well. I think one of the reasons it was doomed was time--where I live it was shown at 11 PM, way too late for me and likely others too! Like other shows, they should have shown all the episodes (we were lucky with BJ, even if the whole country didn't get it). I mean hey--they have already made them! It gives more time for people to discover the show. Things are just cancelled too quickly. Looking forward, sadly, to watching the last 2 episodes.

I was getting a kick out of it too. Not must-see viewing for me, but still quite enjoyable. Offensive? Nah. People just need to lighten up or we'll start looking like the Muslim fundamentalists who are protesting cartoons published in other countries.
Just so you know, NBC was (is?) showing the remainding episodes at their website. I think they were posting one a week and you can watch it from there. There may be some left. I didn't catch any of them.

Over on www.tvshowsonDVD.com, they've announced that "The Book of Daniel" is coming out on DVD. All 8 produced episodes will be released on a 2-DVD set on Sept. 26. Only 4 were shown on NBC. (Between the lines: Wonder if they shot 13, and only produced 8?) According to the site, more info is forthcoming...

What I find interesting is that they are putting out the dvd with more than the 4 aired epsiodes. The arguement over on the side of Blind Justice was that ABC still held the airing rights and that was one possiblity as to why it is being held up for dvd release.
