Robbie Williams, anyone?

Sometimes I think I am the only one in the USA who likes Robbie Williams, but hey, you never know, there may be someone on this board who's a fan, too.

He's HUGE everywhere else in the world, but he's never really tried to crack the American market (he's from England).

Anyway, he's not releasing his new CD "Intensive Care" in the US. I bought the Canadian version off of eBay -- the one with the bonus DVD.

It arrived last week and it's all I've been playing for the last few days. It is EXCELLENT. His best yet.

Mini-rant: I cannot believe that something and someone this good gets no airplay in this country. It fits several radio formats (rock, pop, AOR), and is better than half the crap that passes for hits nowadays.

Any other fans here?

I'm embarrassed to say that while his name is familiar, I don't know his stuff. How would you classify his style -- is there anyonw else you could compare him to, to bring me a little closer?

If you say he's that good? That's enough for me, MIss Doobrah.

This is a stretch, but his voice is a little like Elton John's from the '70s, and the music can range from old Elton, to Eagles-ish to the Stones.

The latest CD is VERY well produced, with lots of sweeping strings and arrangements that remind me of "All Things Must Pass" George Harrison.

On his website, www.robbiewilliams.com, there is a link to his new CD on the photo about "Intensive Care" that takes you to www.whatsyourfuture.com/. There, mouse over "what's your future" and click on the second symbol, "inspired". That gives you access to clips of ALL the songs on the CD, but that only whets your appetite. ("Tripping" is the current hit in Europe, which he did 2 weeks ago on the MTV European Video Music Awards. "Advertising Space" is the next single, which is a tribute to Elvis. He wears a pompadour in the video.)

Other symbols take you to music videos, the "store" where you can listen, download and buy various versions of his songs.
