Hey Anita for my sins I've raised kittens twice now - once as a teenager and about a year and a half ago culminating in Theodore King of All He Surveys driving his own mother out of the house, she was most recently sighted in the playground at the local school - sounds like worms or a tumour to me (sorry). M Oh I hope it's not a tumor. I have an incredible soft spot for her and so does my mom. She's adorable and beautiful.

Does anyone know much about nursing cats? Our neighbour's cat had 4 kittens about 5 or 6 weeks ago. She is very tiny. I think she might have been the runt. She is a little over a year old but looks like a six month old. She is older than Joey and he's at least twice as big as her! She didn't have much to lose before she had her babies, but now she is very very thin and eats non-stop without gaining weight--or at least she doesn't look like she is. Her fur is not very nice either. Is this normal? She comes in our house all the time and eats me out of house and home. She's not in a hurry to leave anymore either. I think she likes it at my house better than hers. (I don't blame her. They are not mean to her at all but I don't think she gets much attention.) I'm tempted to take her to the vet. I wouldn't get her fixed because she's not mine and that's a little more obvious, but I keep hinting for my neighbour to do is as soon as it is ok, because I don't think she could take having more kittens. There is nothing to her now. Based on my experience with the stable cats, this sounds quite normal to me. They may actually have their first kittens at about nine months of age, so if she one year old now, it's not out of the ordinary for her to have babies now. Having babies is hard on her and will make her loose weight. Unless the owners have given her birth controll pills after she's had her babies - and I doubt that - she' most likely pregnant again. All of which makes her VERY hungry. And as you probably already know, cats are high maintenance, so if she's dissatisfied with her current home, she'll most likely move. Preferably to a place with better catering!!! ;D So watch out, or you'll be the happy owner of a lovely female cat and her kittens The only way to prevent further pregnancies is to have her neutered now or put her on birth controll pills right after she has given birth the next time. She can easily be fixed now, it's doesn't matter that she has babies now. And if she is pregnant, the new babies will be taken care of as well. (I'm not saying you should pay for it, of course, but your neighbour should definitely consider it) I'm sure she'll be fine again, once her kittens are grown and she is done nursing them Take care and keep smiling - Chris

Thanks. I think I already own half of her. I should take a picture. They are keeping one of her kittens and the other three are going to a pet store next week. I really hope she's not pregnant again. She is so thin. Unfortunately, she goes out all the time so she might be.
Speaking of moving out, years ago my sister had a dog and moved to a place where she couldn't keep it. We took her dog and one of our cats moved down the street! He never set foot in our house again. I don't think he wanted to share his house with a dog.
