24p is a digital video format that simulates the rich look of film, but it's cheaper than film. Because it operates at roughly the same speed of film (24 frames/second), motion preserves very well for HD playback, unlike some formats.

This is a link to a Google alert from this morning: www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6439378.htmlAnd it's mention of Demons: Conversely, some are calling Fox's police drama New Amsterdam “slow,” NBC's geek-turned-hero drama Chuck “so-so” and that network's remake of The Bionic Woman plain “bad.” At CBS, Demons, about a demon-fighting ex-priest, is said to be in trouble. We'll know in 8 days, but the article goes on to imply that we should not give much weight to the pre-up front propaganda. So let's hope this statement about Demons is just not true. For what it's worth, Barbara Hall's take on the process follows: Friends have been asking what I hear. I hear nothing. Well, that's not true. I hear lots of things which I elect to ignore. With "Judging Amy," we were so completely off the schedule that I just went on vacation. When I returned Sunday night before Up Fronts, I got a call from my frantic agent saying, "Where have you been, you're on the schedule, you have to go to New York!"
(Up Fronts is the ceremony held in New York where the networks all announce their schedules. Each network announces on a different day and at a different location. CBS always presents their schedule at Carnegie Hall. The last time I went, The Who performed, which was almost better than getting a show on the air.)
With "Joan of Arcadia," we were mostly on the schedule the whole time. Until we were cancelled. Then I didn't find out about it until I landed in New York for Up Fronts.
With "Ultra," we were the hottest pilot in production all the way up to scheduling and then we were never in contention.
"Demons" seems to have a pretty good shot and we are doing our best to improve its odds. That's all we can know at this point

Latest I managed to find on Demons:
It always has to do with what was the success the most recent year," agreed Bill Carroll of ad-buyer Katz Television. "So we're going to see things that either have a crime fighter, a superhero or the supernatural."
The pilots that were "greenlighted" by the major networks for consideration lean toward crime procedurals, the most viewer-friendly genre for those who want to dip in and out of a show and not keep tabs on elaborate story arcs.
Of the serialized dramas angling for a network spot, the balance is in favor of comfy soap operas instead of complex thrillers. It won't all be mundane, however, with some exotic concepts _ a show about Satan or a weekly musical, anyone? _ under consideration.
Networks will present their fall lineups to advertisers in New York next week.

TVGuide.com: What's the current buzz on your CBS pilot, Demons? It has a pretty decent pedigree, since it was created by Barbara Hall (Joan of Arcadia). Perrineau: It's got a really great pedigree, but there is no word [on its status]. The network is holding it really close to the vest, not saying anything. I should hear something this week, because the upfronts are coming.
TVGuide.com: You're playing the best bud of Ron Eldard's exorcism-performing Jesuit priest? Perrineau: Yes, I'm his friend who came up with him in seminary, so I'm a priest who doesn't necessarily believe in his work as an exorcist. They have a consultant who has, like, over 1,000 video-documented exorcisms that he performed, so I think it would be interesting to start doing some of that stuff. Not actually performing exorcisms, but.... [Laughs]
TVGuide.com: But with that said, what would be the tone of the series? Dark, eerie, lighter moments...? Perrineau: What Barbara Hall is great at is writing these really fantastic characters, people in conflict — especially in conflict with their spiritual lives and their normal, walking-around lives. So I think it will have dark moments and scary moments, but it will also have lighter moments where people are just being people trying to figure it out.
From another site: Who do you play in Demons. In Demons I play a priest who, Ron Eldard plays an ex-priest who performs exorcisms and I am sort of, you know, [7:13] in the pilot the voice of reason for him, like I try to get him back on track, you know, he’s living his whole life and he’s a little consumed.

From Zap2It today:
It's being reported that CBS' drama pilot pick-ups will be led by the untitled Cynthia Cidre pilot, featuring Jimmy Smits. That series could be ticketed for CBS' high profile Thursday night 10 p.m. slot after "CSI," with "Shark" possibly moving to Tuesday night at 10.
Also looking good for pick-ups are the Hugh Jackman-produced crime-musical "Viva Laughlin" (possibly for Wednesday nights at 8 p.m.), the zombie dramedy "Babylon Fields" (maybe as a Friday companion for "Ghost Whisperer") and the '70s partner-swapping dramedy "Swingtown" (maybe landing on Sunday nights.
CBS won't officially announce its schedule until the network's upfront presentation on Wednesday (May 16) morning.
Ah, well. If Demons doesn't get picked up, maybe the pilot will be made available for download. CBS is making a big deal about its upcoming on-line content.

Mmmm.....I don't think so - if it doesn't get picked up, making it available for download costs money and I don't think they'd be willing to invest more in something that didn't fly.

Puleeze.
On the bright side (Mags), William Russ is in Demons, too, according to the updated IMDB listing.
