Great analysis, mlm! I also enjoyed the season finale--although I think it's odd to market it as a "two-hour season finale" when it's actually just the last two very separate episodes being played back to back. Oh well. They were fun, if a bit light in the Auggie department. His scenes were quite good and I also loved watching him surrounded by third graders, but I could have used a bit more.

The toothbrush is a very interesting thing. It could have been a throwaway line or it could have been a joke about Liza being so promiscuous that she didn't even know whose toothbrush it was or it could have been Henry's and she was slipping it to Auggie to alert him to it or...perhaps she put a monitoring device in there to track him in some way? I would be disappointed if nothing comes of it, but I wouldn't be very surprised.

I also hope we have seen the last of the Annie/Ben romance. It was the least interesting thing going on on the show and it needs to end. I'm hoping the overwhelming fan support of Auggie's character will mean more stories for him next year. I also don't mind Jai. He's so very very easy on the eye and I liked him on Heroes. He becomes more interesting because of the dynamic between he and his father as well as his past with Ben. I don't care who Annie dates. That's not really the point for me. I just want the characters I like--particularly Auggie--to have a lot to do next year.

I'm guessing if this show does well enough next year, they might start having winter seasons as well. They are bringing back Psych this winter (not sure if that has happened before) and also The Closer (which is on TNT, but it might be a cable show trend? We can hope).

This going to be aired in Canada, starting on Sunday, on Showcase. Still no good for me, only having broadcast, but take note BJO, you can now see it!

I also read it has been renewed for a second season and that the lead actress was nominated for an award (can't remember which award).

The second season of Covert Affairs begins tonight, 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, on USA.

I watched it. It's my favorite summer show. Of course I like "Burn Notice", "White Collar", "Warehouse 13", and several others.

I watched, too. I thought the season opener delivered basically what I've come to expect from this show -- light summer entertainment, with engaging characters who are easy to look at.

I wasn't too annoyed that "Ben" survived, since it seems he may now have some role other than Annie's love interest. I could never buy the idea of a great romance between him and Annie, so I like the idea of giving him more of a role as a spy. I'm not sure how much we'll see of him, however, since he supposedly will be off doing super-secret stuff for Arthur.

I still think Christopher Gorham as Auggie is the best part of the show. If the first episode is any indication, it looks like he'll be getting out and about more this season, which is a good thing. I loved his "you're in my seat" schtick at the tennis match, not to mention his impersonating a lawyer with the garage burglary suspects. Legal nitpicks aside, it was a hoot.

It's been so long since the end of the first season that I've forgotten some of the details of the leaks storyline. I thought Henry Wilcox was the leak, but Arthur seems to be the most threatened by them. Is it just because they're happening on his watch? Or is there some nefarious plot by Henry to make Arthur the fall guy for his (Henry's) leaks?

Edited to add: Two more things. Anne Dudek is still seriously underutilized in her role as Annie's sister Danielle. I would love to see a scene where it finally comes out that Annie works for the CIA, and Danielle says nonchalantly that she's known all along, but didn't want to let on that she knew. Unfortunately, I don't think they'll do that.
