Kathy, Kathy, Kathy....you and that camera are now responsible for some of the best shots of the blond dude outside of Wire Image!! And finally another without a hat on his head too - imagine - must have been hot enough to leave it behind. (unlike three weeks ago when it was 85 and he still had it on!)
So happy for you and Mary and Barbara and Anna and anyone else who was there for the last show - it must have been incredibly special to be in that audience!
I was actually feeling kind of sad myself yesterday, knowing that the lights would go dark and our favorite "Priest" wouldn't take the stage again. Thank heavens for our memories, for the people who share them....and, of course, the pictures!

I shared this story with MaggietheCat and she encouraged me to post it to all of you. So here it goes:
Ron had invited me backstage when I saw him in June. I kept it hush because truthfully, I am, by nature, a doubter - I always have been. I'm a "I'll believe it when I see it" type of girl.
I did as Ron instructed me to and it was announced by the stage manager "Mr. Eldard, your guest has arrived." Pinch me, he was talking about me! Ron came up and received me and took me backstage - it was weird, honestly! He showed me around backstage and we talked about the play and the old neighborhood - oh, it turns out that he played football "back in the day" with my cousin - so it's getting even weirder! Yes there was finger food and stuff on stage and the actors and their guests were there, too; I'd gotten to know Adriane Lenox from being there and she greeted me just as warmly. Ron also introduced me to Jena - I graciously complimented her performance and she was quite sweet.
Now, because I am a bit of an oddball (some of you who know me personally can verify!), I couldn't resist this. Every time I saw Ron, on the street or otherwise, I would take his hand and look at his nails and he'd always say to me "I know, it's creeping me out" (just like he said to you, Mags!) - so it became a running joke. When I was with him Sunday, I handed him a brand new, still in the package, nail clippers - we both busted out laughing and he assured me he was "using them tonight" - I said, "please do, my skin is starting to crawl."
We talked further about his future plans and, like he said to Lori and I in June, he said again he has nothing going on at the moment. I asked that he not go another six years before returning to Broadway and he said "is it really six years?" I said, "yes, dear, it is."
I finally took my leave (I really didn't want to wear out my welcome) and he walked me out, we embraced and he thanked me profusely for supporting him, I wished him continued success and assured him that when he returns to Broadway, "the girl from the hood" will be there.
So, there you have it. I know I was asked a while ago if I was invited backstage and at that time I wasn't - this came as a complete surprise to me, one that I will always cherish. Yes, I did run into him a few times in passing, as I work around the corner, and it was pretty neat that he would see me and say hello to me - my approach was gentle and most times I would do the avoidance tactic. Knowing how private he is, I never wanted to be intrusive - besides, it's not my style to do that. So I chose to "err on the side of caution."
I hope he returns to B'way soon - should I find out (my brother or otherwise), I will certainly let you all know.
I'll still check in periodically, or as often as I can, too. My job has been crazy busy and, some of you already know, I've moved residences and getting set up and stuff was crazy, too. I have missed you guys, but I'm here.
Oh! One other thing, there was no mention of the "official website", though a while ago he had said he thought it was a good idea, but it "freaks him out" and he doesn't go on them at all. That, too, I'm still hoping for and, of course, if and when I know anything, you all will know, I promise.
I hope everyone has a great 4th - work tomorrow - BAH!

Thank you so much for that and my great pleasure to share it - I must say I am still in shock and will remain forever grateful to him for his kindness and generosity to me. One this is for certain: while he may be a great actor that can attack any role and make it believable, his encounters with me and those at the stage door with some of you who were there, was no act. He truly is a humble and gracious man.

I was honored to be there with you when he asked you to do that and I know the doubts you have harbored as to whether it would even happen. But, I witnessed the genuine warmth and comfort with which he greeted you and I knew then that your Sunday was going to be special! I have no doubt that our resident "girl from da hood" has left our favorite blond dude with quite an indelible impression. As has he, with those of us who have had the absolute pleasure of his company, however briefly! This man is a beautiful soul!

I am glad that you decided to share your experience on Sunday with everyone. I can't really add anything to what Lori has said. But also having personally witnessed RE's happiness at seeing you and how at ease he is with you; I also was certain that Sunday would go well. I am so happy that Mary and I got to share the hours before and after this experience with you. Being at the final performance was such a thrill. Sharing it with good friends was priceless.

Honestly, though we were not seated together, I had a blast with you guys before and after - and with Lori back in June. I will truly cherish those memories and look forward to many, many more.
As for the level of comfort you speak of, thank you for that. I did try to establish that.

No, I was not with Kathy and Mary by the stage door - I was told by Ron in June to go directly to the door and knock and I would be let in and that's what I did. I did not stand at the stage door. As for wrangling an invitation, unfortunately I was not able to do that. I had a similar disagreement about this earlier on and I suppose that's why when he invited me back in June I didn't say anything - aside from not really believing.

I am going to jump on and respond to this. Barbara was NOT with Mary and I by the stage door. She was already backstage when we got to the area outside the stage door. Mr Eldard invited Barbara to be backstage as his guest after the final performance a month ago. The invitation was extended to her as his friend. If a friend invited you to a wedding or to their home for a dinner, would you ask if you could bring two friends along? Mary and I would never have expected Barbara to "wrangle" an invitation to get us backstage. We are happy that we have been able to see this talented actor on stage and meet him outside the stage door several times. That is all we wanted.

I need to clean this up a bit, so there's no misunderstanding - I posted in haste. Yes, I was shocked that he'd invited me, that I've said. Had he extended the invitation to me and a few of my friends, that would be one thing - I mean, Lori was standing right there. But as it turns out, he did not; his exact words to me were you should tell me when you're coming to the show because you don't have to stand out here for me anymore, you can come back to see me - and proceeded to invite me for his last performance.
To ask for something over and above the extended invitation, regarding any occasion, would be presumptuous and, frankly, downright pushy; I for one wouldn't expect that of anyone, but that's just me.
I hope I've explained this better and I sincerely hope what I've said is not taken negatively; it's not at all meant to be and, those who know me personally know that about me.

You're small enough, I could have fit you under my skirt. ;D This had absolutely NOTHING to do with the fan club - the subject never came up with us then, or any other occasion I have met and talked with him, except to say, to Lori and I that the whole concept "freaked him out" - several times at that. And, back in January, he did meet the website gang and he said it then too, it "weirds him out." It was simply, at that point, two people from the same neighborhood - one just happens to be an actor. Seriously, it had nothing to do with it - but as I've promised if for whatever reason I hear anything about it, good, bad or otherwise, I will definately tell you. Nothing has been said about it because nothing has been said at all about it. That is the honest truth.
