So far, so good. Yeah! So just what ARE those lights and that thing in the water, hm? And just what DOES the Sheriff know?

And this makes the what, second? third? alien-based Lost clone this season? I can see why it would seem that way, but these alien shows are nothing like Lost. Lost isn't alien based...that we know of...heh heh heh. Lost just made the networks realize that it's okay to go back into the rhelm of science fiction--or even to finally get away from some of the other over-used gimics we've been seeing recycled lately. I love Lost and am thrilled to see it back and I'm willing to give Invasion a shot. The pilot showed some potential. I have no urge to see Surface but I'm willing to check out Threshold (missed it last week) for the cast alone. Brent Spiner, ladies and gentlemen! And Jillaw is right...I did used to have a crush on him as Lt. Commander Data. I don't think the influx of this type of show is a bad thing. I'm sure not all of them will survive and hopefully we'll just be left with the best in the end. Or maybe only Lost will remain and that's okay too.

Brent Spiner has been excellent in everything I have ever seen him in. He seems to be just a natural actor -- natural as breathing. And he's really great in Threshold. Maybe they'll rerun the pilot, because it was really good!

One of the great things about these shows is the continuing storyline. It's a nice change from shows like the X-Files where things were wrapped up in an hour! However, that's also a downside of these shows in terms of ratings. If you miss an episode, or stumble across the show a season late, it can be difficult to follow.

Saw Invasion and thought is was pretty good. I am having second thoughts about the sheriff. Is he one of THEM? I like William Fitchner(I think thats the spelling) so I hope he is not a bad guy. The show seems a cross between Alien and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. And what is that stuff hanging from the trees that looks like cobwebs--the alien remains??? Guess we will find out.
By the way, William Fitchner played a blind scientist on Contact with Jody Foster.
And with Surface, what is that thing? Looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon?

"Fick-ner" (best actor ever, bar none). Will be interested in seeing what happens with the Sheriff as the episodes continue, and see which side (if any) he lands on. Stuff hanging from the trees? I don't recall, so must've presumed it was vegetation. Will have to watch for it. Haven't seen Surface, will have to add it to my recording list. Kyt

I just remember some cobwebby stuff that seemed to be hanging off the trees when they found the wife. Didn't seem like spanish moss so figured it might have been alien remains or something to that effect. Have to keep an eye out and see if that is so or if it just is some weird moss.

I just remember some cobwebby stuff that seemed to be hanging off the trees when they found the wife. Oh yeah. I thought it was a hank of his wife's hair. Quite the chunk, though esp. since she doesn't appear to be missing any. Also managed to catch the pilot for "Surface" and enjoyed. It's really got some dumb moments and/or stupid people, but it's a fun bit of distraction for the moment. Kyt

INVASION has been picked up for the full season. Have no idea how its ratings compare with another fave, but looking forward to seeing how this one plays out. 'They' have said a lot of questions will be answered.

I don't know how many of you have stuck by this one but...wow. I'm sure glad I did.
Yeah, it's a slowly-building mystery, but each week gets more gripping than the last. Last night was the best yet. Spine tingling and poignant all at once. And the Mystery is really getting good, now that there is starting to be proof that Dave isn't crazy and that the lights in the water are aliens who are taking over the bodies of the people in the Everglades. Well, not exactly taking them over, but replacing them.
Here's what hit me most about last night. I was very impressed all along that this show had a character who was a one-armed policeman and nothing was ever made out of it. I had even wondered if the actor really had one arm (it sure looked like it) and if the role had been written that way or if the casting people had just been open-minded, like how they were when the lead in Reasonable Doubt wasn't written as a Deaf character until Marlee Matlin had the gall to audition for it. Anyway, last night cleared up a few things when the sheriff sent Lewis into the water, only to have him return--with two arms. Whoa! And then the way the sheriff manipulated Lewis into cutting his new arm off again so people wouldn't think he was a freak for growing it back to begin with (but really so no attention would be drawn to all the hurricane "survivors" who aren't exactly--ahem--human). That was good stuff.
Now I have to figure out whether the special effect was the armless look or the arm. I tend to think the actor has two arms now, but they sure had me fooled!
Great show.

Special effects to remove limbs can look very real. Remember Gary Sinise in Forrest Gump? Looked like he was missing his legs!
