This is too funny. I only read one page of comments and this is one of my favorites: That man's ego probably drives its own Hummer. And has it's own sunglasses Talking about the big H himself, of course. Makes me wonder how the show stays on the air. On the other hand, it seems like a lot of people watch it just so they can talk about how much they hate it!

I can't believe this thread is the "rant" section instead of with all the other TV shows. And you don't seem to like it very much over here, do you? I'm actually glad PL brought this up, even if she's not real, as it is something I have wondered about. All the other TV shows mentioned on this site in threads are ones we like. I'm not trying to be snarky here but really want to know: If you all hate the show so much, why do you spend your time watching it? And then spend even more time trashing it? I don't watch shows I dislike, there are enough out there I do like!

Speaking only for myself, I started watching CSI: Miami strictly out of curiosity about the story line involving the character Ryan Wolfe supposedly losing his sight. I was interested to see how they would handle it. Aside from that, the unintended comedy (supplied mostly by David Caruso) is somewhat entertaining. And there's always "Won't Get Fooled Again" at the beginning of each episode. As for trashing the show, what can I say? It's fun!

Sometimes a show is bad enough to extend beyond the boundaries of badness back into goodness, but in a craptastically bad way that leaves me stunned and strangely fascinated. It is rare to find such a show in this day and age. Most shows are formulaic or boring or unoriginal--and CSI:Miami is all of the above--but the magic comes into play when that element of cheese and ego that is David Caruso is involved. He's funner to mock than Shatner chanting "Lucy in the Sky with diamonds" in a way that you hope is tongue-in-cheek but-- honestly?--you're just not sure. A waste of time? Absolutely. But I can't resist. I'll probably outgrow it eventually.

I'm not a CSI viewer either. After my post on the "Prison Break" thread, I began to wonder, are you serial killers getting your ideas from CSI?
Later, Carl

I watched CSI: New York ( or what ever it's called ) Weds nite, and a bomber put a collar bomb on an innocent man. It looked very similar to the actual collar bomb used in the infamous " pizza bomber" collar that took place in Erie two yrs. ago. Too many similarities. When a cheesy show steals from real life, it looks like the writers are devoid of imagination. When, on the other hand, a class act like Law & Order does it, they have the honesty (or balls of steel) to call it "ripped from the headlines." And they take the actual event as a jumping-off point, always twisting it into something different and unexpected. L & O makes it work -- the CSI shows just seem transparent and flimsy!

How about when they steal from shows from other countries?
Nip/Tuck did the lighted candle path lining the hallway in the finale. That was done in the first episode of "Epitafios" airing now on HBO Signature -- a 13 parter that was originally done for HBO Latin America, but apparently already shown in this country in HBO Latino (without subtitles). Same lighting, same scenario, etc., just an ingenious serial killer, not the Carver.
"Epitafios" is great, by the way.

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, but I saw this over at TWoP and felt the need to steal it and post it here because it made me giggle and I've been going through CSI:Miami snark withdrawal:

What a great laugh! And it just reinforces my contention that not only is David Caruso about the worst actor on the planet, he is one big fat, self-involved jerk.

...and so much for the Ryan Wolfe subplot...why are you squinting, Ryan? Only he seems to have fine vision in some scenes, and can't see stuff at other times. For example, he can't see the ring line on the corpse's finger, but he notices slight burn marks made by a sparkler on a suspects arm? Gimme a break.
Nothing else was even said, except the ME asked him if he took all the pills she gave him.

I think they are keeping this arc in the plot slow right now so that something major happens in the episodes in the February ratings period. Then they'll back off again and sock it to us in the May sweeps.

Nothing else was even said, except the ME asked him if he took all the pills she gave him. That bugged me as well. All we see is some squinting? Wha? And there's absolutely nothing else going on in this actor's face to show he's worried or hiding something. Nice acting! Just imagine how much Ron Eldard could have brought to such a role, even when the gradual impairment is understated and poorly written. He would have made us grasp the inner struggle of his character with a single look and he would have squinted like he meant it. I think they're trying to be subtle, having Ryan go back to the scene with someone else to make sure nothing was missed (because he didn't trust his own sweep the first time) and of course there was a honking big pen in plain sight that provided a vital clue that Ryan didn't see the first time. There goes the subtlety. So...they're beating us over the head with it while at the same time giving no sign through the acting. Nice.
