Did anyone else watch Daybreak? I looked in for Taye Diggs, but I was totally hooked for the two hours. Maybe I just like that sort of story. I've always liked Groundhog Day, too.

It was so poorly reviewed and I was so excited to have a night partially "off" that I didn't want to get into something new. I love Taye Diggs. He's a great actor and is more than a little easy on the eyes. I just thought it looked like a violent version of Groundhog Day. I can see the appeal, though. I like it when shows try something different and this one definitely does that. The bad news is that it got very low ratings and lost viewers each half hour it was on so I wouldn't count on it staying around for long. On TWoP, they named their Daybreak thread: Daybreak: Because Taye Diggs is better looking than Bill Murray. Heh.

I love Groundhog Day too. I enjoyed it but won't be watching again. I don't really enjoy crime shows and of course, it's a serialized drama (see rant )

In the recent TV Guide, they listed some shows in need of fixing and one of them is The Nine. I have stayed with this one since the pilot and I have to agree that it needs some serious fine tuning. The flashbacks to the bank are gripping but the every day stuff since the bank are becoming rather ho-hum. The only two characters I have come to really care about are Nick (Tim Daly) ie the cop and Katherine (Kim Raver) ie the lawyer. I know part of the premise is to show how people cope after a life-altering experience but the only ones who are seeing a shrink and trying to come to terms with what happened are Katherine and the daughter of the bank manager and the only reason she is doing it is because she can't remember what happened. They are going to have to do something and quick or the Nine is history.

Hey, was there a new episode of Friday Night Lights this week? Nope. Tony Bennett special. There will be a new one for the next two weeks though, then it goes on winter hiatus and comes back in a new timeslot: Sunday nights at 8. I have no idea if this show is going to make it, but at least it's being given an entire season. So is Studio 60. I'm happy about both shows.

Remember back when a new season meant new shows for at least a while?

Surprise, surprise; Shatner has another new show. "Show Me the Money." (Cn, dare I say it? ABC, ugh, I said it)
For his age, that guy has a lot of enery. He'll live to a 100.
(And probably have just as many new shows.)
Later, Carl

What is it with all the breaks, hiatus' etc. that are going on this season??? Lost, Prison Break, Jericho and now it looks like Friday Night Lights. At least on Fox they will be having 24. I'm not sure if it will be on in Prison Breaks timeslot but either way we will be able to see Marisol Nichols in a new role. It used to be that a show either made it or it didn't. Now they shuffle things around until you don't know when or what day a program is on. Saturday night is a barren wasteland. I know they feel that people are out and about most weekends but why not take a leap of faith and actually air something on that night?

I know I've ranted about it before on this Board. Shows used to run pretty much without breaks, except Christmas! And I remember Prison Break did it last year too. 24 seems to alternate with it so I'm sure that will be the case again this year. On another note, I saw 3 Lbs last night. It really is good! Seems to be a good balance on emphasis between the people and the medical conditions. I liked the 2 main doctors, good counterpoints to each other. And a great opening too, Train's Calling All Angels. I liked it even more than Shark, but it's still no Chicago Hope (sigh).

CBC here is premiering a new midseason show next week called "Little Mosque on the Prairie". I have died laughing just watching the previews! Little Mosque On The Prairie is an unabashedly comedic look at a small Muslim community interacting with the denizens of a little prairie town. The sitcom reveals that although different, we are all surprisingly similar when it comes to family, love, the generation gaps and our attempts to balance our secular and religious lives while trying to understand those of others in the community. www.littlemosque.ca/

Not the new fall season, but anyway, to give the info:
The OC is cancelled--last episode to air Feb. 22--if anyone cares (not me!)

Let's take a poll -- how many new series have already come and gone since September? Daybreak, 3 lbs., Smith . . . anything else? Oh, yeah, Kidnapped. What else?
