Has anyone seen this yet? Oh, my word!!!! I DVRed it, but I caught the last 1/2; it's about Henry VIII but I can't give a whole synopsis until I see the whole thing. But Jonathan Rhys Meyers? Oy, my God is all I can say. Can't wait to see the whole thing.

It sounds wonderful. They had a nice writeup in the TV Guide this week. The person who wrote The Tudors also wrote the screenplay for Elizabeth that starred Cate Blanchett, one of my favorite movies! Since I don't have cable, hopefully they will have it out soon on dvd. My brother has cable but half the time he forgets to record anything! I do remember watching Six Wives of Henry VIII with Keith Michell way back when. Of course that Henry was not "young and virile" as he appears to be on this one! I have read tons of books on H VIII and his wives and children, so I will be interested in hearing your take on this show!

Well, I'm going to set up the DVR to record the series in case I should fall asleep or be out, or whatever. I am now reading the book, The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. It's GREAT so far!

It's now up to episode #7, and is it just me, or did you think they were going to get through all six wives in 10 episodes?
Henry is still married to Katharine of Aragon and fooling around with Anne Boleyn... and I'm thinking the rest of the wives must not have lasted very long, so they better hurry up because it's only 10 episodes!!
Well.. boy do I feel stupid. They have greenlit a second season. Duh Doobrah! Itsa gonna be-a like-a the Sopranos, and stretch it out over several years. D'oh!
In fact, the first article I read about this fantastic series is that the creator sent everone in the crew DVDs of the Sopranos and the West Wing, so the production would have a rich and sophisticated look while recreating the gangstas of the 16th century.
(Look like Cardinal Woolsey will be getting his just deserts soon!)

After watching this series for two months now, I decided to check out the old 1966 movie "A Man for All Seasons" DVD from the library about Sir Thomas More.
I'd seen the movie YEARS ago, but didn't really understand the backstory.
Well.... after watching the Tudors, I now understand "A Man for All Seasons." YAY!!
And it's fun seeing Orson Welles as Cardinal Wolsey, and a very young John Hurt as an aspiring member of Henry VIII's court. And many famous English actors from the '60s.
If you are watching the Tudors, (and I know at least Barb is), try "A Man for All Seasons." Since its set in the 1500's, it doesn't seem dated.

I'be been away for a bit and just saw Barb!'s post about missing episodes. Oh man, so much has happened! And last night's episode was the last for this season. And Henry is still married to Katharine of Aragon. But... they did say Peter O'Toole is joining the cast in 2008. BAH! I can't wait that long! Showtime has episode summaries -- maybe they will suffice until they do a Tudor marathon? www.sho.com/site/tudors/episodes.do
