It may have been highly hypocritical to say that Jericho lost its following after putting the show on an extended haitus. I wondered about that too. Even if it is true, why didn't the fans start watching again? Prison Break and Lost, and maybe others, take long breaks, and the audience returns. Maybe because Jericho was only in the first season?

It may have been highly hypocritical to say that Jericho lost its following after putting the show on an extended haitus. But, what surprises me is that CBS responded to its viewers with something, an answer of some sort to their inquiries and their emails. That's much more than we ever received from ABC in the case of Blind Justice. Letters, petition copies, phone calls and emails all went unanswered - absolutely no response from anyone at any level - not only to those efforts to try to save the show (which we know, in the words of Ron Eldard, were moot to begin with) but also in the case of its release on DVD. It seems to me that CBS at least has the sense to let their viewers know they are listening. Not for nuthin' but the online petition to save Jericho now stands at 84861 Total Signatures. CBS would be foolish to ignore it!

Prison Break and Lost, and maybe others, take long breaks, and the audience returns. Maybe because Jericho was only in the first season? I think Lost did lose viewers because of its hiatus, along with the move to 10 p.m. I don't know about Prison Break. Perhaps, as you suggest, they're still on the air because they are more "established" shows. It seems to me that CBS at least has the sense to let their viewers know they are listening. Well said! You stated my thoughts exactly. Of course, they're not going to change their corporate minds about canceling Jericho, but at least they're acknowledging the show's fans. It's also interesting that CBS had an on-line forum about Jericho. Perhaps, having created a place for viewers to express their opinions, CBS felt a need to respond. In the case of Blind Justice, we now know it never really had a chance of coming back, unless it was a mega-hit -- and maybe not even then. But what would it have cost ABC to acknowledge that the show had a core group of passionate viewers who were very sorry to see it end?

ABC is having a series based on the Geico "Caveman" commercial.
Almost reminds me of a "Flintstones" using live people.
Later, Carl

How awesome is it to see the power of the people work for a change and to have a network listen to its viewership? The fact of the matter is, this is about quality programming. Jericho is a quality show, perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but a unique series with a really terrific cast of players, a compelling storyline with a series of intricate subplots and just the right measure of tension and angst. Thankfully that cast could be reassembled!
I am so glad there will be one more show to add to the fall watching schedule - let's hope the network brass learned a lesson here and this time they will leave it alone, in a regular timeslot, with no mandated haitus!

That is great news since I am a fan of Jericho. Its nice that some networks actually listen and take note of their viewers. Hopefully the idea of hiatus is now taboo.

Kind of makes you wish that back in 2005 a certain Steven Bochco cop drama had been running on CBS, where, apparently, programming executives actually pay attention to viewer email and on-line petitions.
