I don't have any ideas either. I buy online all the time and have never had any trouble, but I've never bought from a site like that. I hope they make it right and I'm sorry they are Canadian too. If Inuvk or I think of anything, we'll be sure to let you know. Thanks I still hope... I'm so sorry this site is Canadian. Trust me, most of us in this country are pretty good--don't let it put you off Canada and Canadians! Oh, no! ;D

Well, I ordered Longstreet series from them on 10th of September, and I got it on 15th of September. At least the most of it One DVD of the twelwe was duplicated, and there was just one episode on another. That way three episodes are missing. The first three - most annoyingly because the Pilot is an important one. I wrote them the very day. And we made a long, nice lettering back and forth. They apoligized, made promises, then didn't answer just when I was a bit harder, and lastly in one time (in the same minute) two email (they have no contact with each other?!). One of them: "you didn't receive, sorry, see on the canadian post homepage this and this number" - which was the old, first number of delivering... The other: there is blacklog in Longstreet series but when they would have the new stock they would immediately send to me ... of course. It was two weeks ago. I am a little annoyed. OK, not just little. Would somebody in Canada knock their head? Seriously: what do you think I can do in this case?Janna, Hungarian girl Warning! Don't order from this sight. By the time I read here of Janna's troubles, I had already ordered. Well I started to research the website and found LOTS of negative stuff written about them. I think I just googled it, and found lots of negative info. Seems there is a legitimate dvdavenue.com, and they claim to have nothing to do with dvdavenue.tv. The website says to email them if you have any problems. I have a few times, and receive nothing back. Janna says she has still not recieved the rest of her purchase. The charge was on my credit card the very day I ordered, but nothing has arrived and they will not return my emails.

I saw a movie over Christmas called "Cat o Nine Tails", with James Franciscus, from 1971. It was not notable, very B'ish, but I mention it here because of one thing. It stars JF as a reporter who starts to investigate a series of murders with Karl Malden, who--get this--is blind! It just struck me as a funny coincidence that only a few years later, he would still be investigating murders, yet he would be playing the blind person.

Has anyone ever had a chance to see JF in a TV show called Mr. Novak? He played a teacher. I looked it up but could not find anything on it.

Oh, dear, I'm old enough to remember watching Mr. Novak, although I know I was in grade school at the time. It was an unremarkable show about a high school teacher, and the joke going around at the time was that when Mr. Novak wrote on the blackboard, they had to use a stunt double. Seems James Franciscus, while pleasant to look at, was not exactly the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

James Franciscus as Mr. Novak Oh Maggie, I too am old enough to remember and also remember having a bit of a crush on the handsome JF. While I was just googling it, guess what I read. James Franciscus graduated Magna cum laude from YALE! I think it was in imdb. Hhhmm..wonder what the real story is. It listed Youngblood Hawke as one of his movies, and I remember really liking that movie about an aspiring writer who comes to NY from some southern town. (based on the novel by Herman Wouk)It was very dramatic and I believe a bit of a tear jerker. I even tried looking it up in Netflix but not there. I would love to see it again. Modified to add the biography from Imdb. James Grover Franciscus graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 1957 with a B.A. in English and theater. His father, John Allen Franciscus, was a pilot killed in action during WWII. His mother was named Loraine (nee Grover). One sibling, a brother John. Mr. Franciscus is best known for his work in television including "Naked City" (1958), "The Investigators" (1961), "Mr. Novak" (1963) and "Longstreet" (1971). He also made numerous guest appearances in other popular television programs, starred in numerous television movies, and appeared in numerous feature films. In the mid 1980s, he became dissatisfied with the roles offered to him and turned his attention to screen writing. As co-founder of Omnibus Productions, he produced many classic films such as Heidi (1968) (TV), Jane Eyre (1970) (TV), "David Copperfield" (1986) (mini), Kidnapped (1986/I), and The Red Pony (1973) (TV). An avid tennis player, he founded the James Franciscus Celebrity Tennis Tournament in the mid 1970s to raise money for multiple sclerosis research and victims (his mother suffered from this disease). He also enjoyed sky diving and scuba diving. Married 'Kathleen 'Kitty' Wellman' , daughter of director William A. Wellman, March 28, 1960, and fathered four daughters (Jamie, Kellie, Corie and Jolie). A devoted family man, his contracts often stipulated that he not be required to work past 6:00 pm. After his divorce from Wellman, he married second wife Carla in the mid 1980s and continued to live on his two acre North Hollywood estate until his death.

It's actually a rather difficult skill to be able to say your lines and write on a board at the same time - just ask David Krumholtz or any of the cast of House. And yes, I know teachers do this all the time, but they're not reciting script as they write. Don't remember Mr Novak but I do remember Longstreet - just a little, lol.

Mr. Franciscus also starred in a sequel to "The Planet of the Apes."

I had a pm from Janna today. She has just been extremely busy and has not been around much. We had both been somewhat burned by avenuedvd.com trying to buy the Longstreet dvd's. After many emails and threats they did send us partial episodes after about two months. Anyway, she sent me this link to all the episodes of Longstreet except the pilot. I did not even have to download, just click and watch. I know Carl would be interested since I sent him some of the ones I had gotten from that company, and already watched. They say this is the whole series. Many similarities to B/J in terms of his abilities being doubted. I just watched an episode ( A world of perfect something or other) where he is shooting on a pistol range, and his friend asks him when he is going to give up the gun...in the end he has to use it. Has to hold a perp at gunpoint until the cops arrive. Doesn't seem that he does ever give it up. www.guba.com/general/search?query=longstreet&set=5&x=30&y=13
