I had a gander DoL, It was pretty funny. I know you're retired from BJ videos, sigh, and I respect that. But I just gotta say you could have done so much with this theme... dreaming... N, do you really think anyone from anywhere other than here is going to understand the term 'gander' Bless ya (also in parlance). For those wondering, translation = think of a goose having a good look at something. I mean really .... xo M Hey, I knew what she meant! That's a term we use here as well. Small world, isn't it. And back to our regular programming...

No need for a translation, we are always, "taking a gander" at something as well..e.g...."Hey Kathy, take a gander at that hot looking guy outside the Walter Kerr. Go have him sign your playbill."

David Blue, who plays Cliff, reluctant Marc's adorable boytoy on ABC's ubberly wonderful Ugly Betty, will have a guest starring role on the next two episodes of Moonlight! From his blog, he says, "You might remember in the last MOONLIGHT POST, that I shot a role in CBS' 1-hour drama "Moonlight". The role was a Guest Star that had the possibility of recurring - well, it's no longer just a possibility. I shoot my SECOND episode in the next week or so. I'm stoked about this next one. The script is really fun. I'm not sure when my first one airs, but I'll keep you updated. And please keep your fingers crossed. I'm on hold for a really fun, cool project for next year that I'd LOVE to do. [Of course, things have been so amazing lately, I dare not expect anything...but I'd still LOVE IT! " With the"good buzz" surrounding Moonlight and the early indication that it should be renewed - should the writer's stike ever end - maybe that guest starring role will recur more than he knows/we know? We can keep our fingers crossed for that one too! T'would be awesome to have him on two very entertaining series at the same time.

The caucuses and primaries have not been the only votes tabulated in recent days....the People's Choice Awards has also been running an election of sorts too...and, I'll admit it, since this is one election I can vote in south of the border, I have cast a few of my own during the past several weeks (like my favorite little vitamin pill - One a Day)...and, well, I guess each of those votes might have made a little bit of difference because.....
WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! MOONLIGHT WON!! BEST NEW DRAMA! [/center] ...according to the people with a very impressive ten million votes cast - wonderful recognition for Moonlight! Not only that, it should bode well for its chances for a second season, should this writer's strike ever end! Although the PCA show itself was ghastly, I thought Alex O'Loughlin's acceptance speech was more than charming: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY5CsVOD7Ws&feature=related

I ended up watching this hoping to see Moonlight win. Against Private Practice and Gossip Girls , it should have been hands down--and it was!!! Yay!!!! ;D And his cute response to whether vampires are sexy or not--duh!

I, for one, am glad Mick did not turn Josh just to save his life. How could he condemn another person to such an existence? Plus it complicates things with Beth. Hard enough to compete with a living boyfriend much less a murdered one you could have "saved". Makes for an interesting question however--has Mick ever turned anyone??? One more new episode Stupid writer's strike

One more new episode Stupid writer's strike Love Lasts Forever was, in my humble little opinion, the best episode of Moonlight to date - incredibly well-conceived with a very ambitious, intense plotline that never skipped a beat! This one ran the gamut of emotions - anger, grief, guilt and hurt - and thankfully remembered to give us a little shot of humor in those moments where it was most needed! (I am still digesting so many aspects of this one and will definitely need another viewing before I can say anything other than WOW!) Seems several hundred thousand more people managed to find Moonlight last night too! It registered the best numbers since its premiere in September and easily won the 9:00 p.m. timeslot and the coveted 18 - 49 demographic! The previews for next week's "season finale" looked awesome - which ALSO leaves me with one comment and echoing your words, Hoosier - STUPID WRITERS STRIKE!!!!!!

I've seen every episode of Moonlight and I enjoy it overall, but something about it persists in bugging me. It's not just the similarities it has to Angel. This week, for example, Mick expressed that he had done terrible things as a vampire early on and that now he was on a quest for redemption. Which was the premise of Angel from start to finish. But so much isn't like Angel I can let that go. I was watching the episode this week very carefully and thought it was among the best so far (if not THE best). I liked Josh and thought Mick's dilemma was interesting. I really loved to see Mick in action as a medic, trying to save Josh in every way he knew how without resorting to any of his vampire tricks. It was all very moving and well done. One thing I noticed, though, is that the writing--or rather, the overwriting--is part of what was has been annoying me all along. Mick's voiceovers are far too frequent and they often over-explain a moment that would have been much more poignant if the audience were given the chance to digest and figure it out for themselves. This episode in particular used this device to give the audience countless clues and information that could have been easily inferred with...you know...acting. I wish the writers had more faith in the intelligence of their audience--and in the actors' ability to show us what we need to know. Not only do the voiceovers detract from the story and take me out of the moment, they are also examples of the weakest writing on the show and they seem lazy and forced. I might often forget that some of the other writing is a bit off were I not so often reminded in an impossible-to-ignore way. The stories are interesting and the entire premise, while familiar , is compelling. They just need to allow us to think for ourselves while we’re watching. This week, Beth pointed out what I think is the main weakness in the plot of the show overall; the thing that makes this vampire universe illogical. Why would it be so horrible to turn Josh? Why is a vampire a monster in this particular universe? In Buffy/Angel, it is made very clear that vampires are innately evil because they have lost their souls and are therefore incapable of normal human emotion. Angel was cursed to be given back his soul and to feel remorse for his past evil and that is the basis of that entire series. No such distinction has been made in Moonlight. These vamps seem capable of being as human as anyone and have the ability to be just as good as any human so...why are they evil again? I think they tried to explain this problem away by saying if a vamp has been sired properly and is guided from the start, he can turn out okay. If not, he goes wild. Okay, but...then Mick could have turned Josh with a clear conscience and could have guided him into a pretty decent existence. It has never been made clear to me, in this show, why that would be a bad thing. While Mick hates being a vampire, he is obviously a good person and he lives well. I don’t get why he wouldn’t just turn Beth and be done with it. I'm not trying to put down the show or anyone who likes it. I like it myself and am a faithful viewer. I just wish there weren't so many clunky and awkward voiceovers telling us too much at the wrong times and I wish the vampire world in this series was more clearly defined. Did anyone else think it was very convenient that Josh is no longer there? I knew he would have to be killed off at some point because he was too likable and gorgeous to be dumped. It would be easier to kill him off than to have him turn annoying or evil. But…it might have made for some interesting stories if there was a complex understory about Josh really being onto Mick and secretly plotting against Beth in some way as well but…nah. Killing him off was the easiest way to go.

There have been a few clues into the vampire world such as the "cleaners" (very interesting sort) and how the sire is responsible for educating the turnee (is that even a word?) but it would be fun to have a deeper look into it. That and seeing more of Josef and his crew.
It was too bad that they did kill Josh off. I thought he was somewhat annoying but just giving an open road for a Mick/Beth hookup... Of course, she is going to mourn him, though she had been drawing away from him (in my opinion) and be angry with Mick for not saving him. Did she think she and Josh were going to somehow continue as a couple after he was turned?
I don't know if all vampires are considered bad in this universe. Mick definitely is not or is he the exception? I don't consider Josef bad. Jaded, yes. Are there rogue vampires who step outside what is considered acceptable vampire behavior? Are they simply being villainized because of folklore and legend?
I don't mind the voice-overs since they kind of remind me of the "visions" Jim Dunbar would have. They have to be careful not to overdo it though.
It was cool seeing Mick swing into action using the skills he learned in WWII. It would be nice if they would explore his past.

OOPS..we did it again - easily won the 9:00 p.m. timeslot and took #1 in that coveted demographic too!
And....for now....that's all she wrote....it's over...
And while I don't believe Mortal Cure was the strongest episode of the twelve, it definitely had the most amazing ending....so many possibilities, so many questions, so many scenarios I can play out in my own mind....but, of course, we are now at the mercy of two real scenarios, waiting for them to play out...will the writer's finally go back to work and if they do, will CBS pick Moonlight up for a second season? (If the numbers are any indication, they would be crazy not to!)
.....STUPID WRITERS STRIKE!

Every time someone on this board says "stupid writers' strike," I -- as [ahem] a writer by trade -- want to grind my teeth. A more fitting phrase would be "stupid producers who think they can do without writers and refuse to negotiate." Don't blame the writers. This is about fair and appropriate compensation for their work, without which there would be nothing to cast, film, edit or air. Sorry for the rant . . . I feel better now.

Apology not necessary - you know, though, grinding your teeth is not a good idea! I am not, in any way, shape or form, saying the writers certainly aren't justified in what they are doing, or what they are seeking. But, as with most other minor inconveniences, I am more than ready for this one to be over and done...as are they, I'm sure. I would love to see them back on the job - tomorrow - but not until they have fair and equitable settlement of the terms they are seeking, all wrapped up in a long-term contract that will properly compensate them on all fronts. It would be a more than welcome development for them, great news for the industry, and for those of us silly enough to be captivated and entertained by certin offerings on television, it would mean we might just get the answer we are waiting for....in this case, more Moonlight!
