To some this might be considered a ridiculous thread, but if I know this board, we can have some fun with it. I was thinking about how I would rank to episodes from favorite to least favorite. I can name my favorite: Up on the Roof, hands down. My least favorite is Leap of Faith. But where do the others fall in line? I am going to give it some thought and rank them from favorite on down. Would anyone care to do the same?

Oooh. I'll try. Okay, I did my best, but the first six or so on my list shift around a lot depending on my mood so this isn't scientific.

Such a great idea. Here's my first stab at a ranking...I bet it differs from most people's, since I am not an angsty Jim fan. However, some of the angsty ones are the highest-quality ones, so I'm torn. *sigh* So I'm going to disclaim: this is a ranking of my most enjoyed episodes, rather than what I consider the "best." Do other people have two separate lists, too - in other words, do your favorites coincide with what you think are the most well done?

Hmmm... I would have to think about it, although my absolute favorite is Doggone. I'll post my list later.

I agree Kenina, my favorites might not be considered the very best, but here is how I would rank them.
1. Up on the Roof 2. Dance with me 3. Doggone 4. Four Feet Under 5. Pilot 6. Marlon's Brando 7. Seoul Man 8. Rub a Tub Tub 9. Past Imperfect 10. In Your Face 11. Under the Gun 12. Fancy Footwork 13. Leap of Faith

"This isn't easy." The first four on the list are a virtual tie.
1. Up on the Roof 2. Doggone 3. Marlon's Brando 4. Pilot 5. Seoul Man 6. Under the Gun 7. Dance With Me 8. Fancy Footwork 9. Four Feet Under 10. In Your Face 11. Rub a Tub Tub 12. Leap of Faith 13. Past Imperfect
I am basically using kenina's definition of "favorite" -- the episodes I most enjoy watching. My numbers 5 and 6 -- "Seoul Man" and "Under the Gun" -- are both very powerful and emotionally-draining episodes, but they are also difficult to watch, with everything Jim is going though in them. So they are not in my top 4 "favorites" for this reason.

My favorite episodes are Up on a Roof and Marlon's Brando. I sorta don't like Four Feet Under, and I just don't like Past Imperfect at all. I don't think I can rank them.

The episode I most watch everytime I need a RE fix is the Pilot so I guess that would have to be my favorite. That said, ranking them from favorite to least favorite, here is my list The Pilot Up on the roof Seoul Man Doggone Marlon's Brando Dance With me Under the gun Four Feet Under Past Imperfect Leap of Faith Fancy Footwork In Your face Rub a tub tub I must say there are favorite scenes in every episode and I can get to them in a heartbeat when I pop in the dvd. Examples:( Speed Bag (sigh); Clay's party and subsequent fight at home"Say it, why don't you just say it" Love that; Marty and Jim in the locker room. Best actor award a tie; Terry and Jim by the river, "I don't know how you can ask of me any more than this." superbly done; and any scene with Dr. Galloway. What an amazing series! Believe it!

Doggone is tops. It has my name in the episode: Hudson The rest are evenly divided. I enjoy them all. Later, Carl

I just have to say it: If it wasn't for Hudson, Dunbar would not have been rescued. Thank me later. Later, Carl

Here's my list - Hands down Up on the Roof - I have watched it so many times, my DVD is worn out - but I love Jim's anger in the Galloway scene and trying to keep his raw emotion in check with Terry when he shows him the handkerchief - INCREDIBLE -- it gets me every time. ("And really, I don't know how you can ask of me anything more than that")
(1) Up on the Roof (2) Pilot (3) Doggone (4) Marlon's Brando (5) Seoul Man (6) Four Feet Under (7) Dance With Me (8) Under the Gun (9) Fancy Footwork (10) Leap of Faith (11) Past Imperfect (12) In Your Face (13) Rub a Tub Tub
And Rub a Tub Tub is at the bottom cause Carl's wife really bugs me!

Oh, Jeez, I haven't done mine yet. Let's see . . . .
1. The Pilot or Up on the Roof -- a tie 2. Up on the Roof or The Pilot -- a tie 3. Marlon's Brando 4. Seoul Man 5. Four Feet Under, for the ending in the rain and the first scene with Galloway 6. Rub a Tub Tub, for the ending with the Mulligan 7. Doggone 8. Leap of Faith -- "When I beat you til your kidneys bleed . . . " 9. In Your Face, for the chess and the money machine scene with Jadis of Narnia (well, she was in that episode).
And after that it's sort of a blur. Me, I like Angsty Jim and Galloway, so the earlier episodes have more resonance.
