Here is a link to a table that accompanied an article in Slate Magazine that I found very interesting: specials.slate.com/slate60/2006/The article's title is The 2006 Slate 60 - The 60 largest American charitable contributions of the last year. The minimum donation to make this year's list was 30 million dollars. Everyone on this list donated at least that to charity. Omaha's own Warren Buffet tops the list with 43.6 billion in donations. In general I am not all that impressed with the attitudes of the wealthy in this (or any other) country, but this is a good thing.

Whau, that's a LOT of money!! I have a question though. I says that they have donated/pledged to pay a certain amount of money, but then the next column says paid and on one donator it says pledged 70.5 million § but paid states only 233,000§. My question is, the fact that they have pledged to pay a certain amount, does that mean that they are actually going to pay it eventually? Or is that what they are planning to donate and then they might or might not do it after all?? I'm not implying that they are not going to donate as promised, I just don't quite understand, also since there are a lot of donations that have been made already. Imagine having that much money to donate - Chris
