Oh my gosh we have had rain! As of today they have recorded 12 inches for the month of April and we had another spat of the west stuff a little while ago. There is water standing in my back yard cause there is no where for it to go and where we had some sewer line work done is just mud---but the grass seed I put in is finally coming up, if it doesn't get washed away. I haven't been able to plant any garden as the beds are soaked. A tornado passed through the northern part of the county earlier in the week--no one hurt but some minor damage was done. The Wabash isn't out of its banks but is running high, creeks and streams are full, full, full. Today on the news they were talking of evacuating Cairo, Illinois because of severe flooding. All in all, quite an active weather month here!

Certainly some wild and woolly weather lately. Nothing on the scale of Joplin, MO. however. Wednesday there were 3 tornadoes south of here classed F-0 to F-2. Lots of damage and some injuries. Thankfully no one was killed. The storm ripped through here with lots of rain and wind. Once the thunder was so loud and close all the windows in the house rattled! The tornado warning siren kept going off all afternoon and into the evening. We got over an inch of rain that night and the next day!!! One of my flower pots was swimming so I transplanted all of the plants this morning. Gonna have to check and see why that pot is not draining properly Now, of course, its going to be sweltering over the holiday weekend--90+. With all this water mosquito heaven

The National Weather Service has confirmed an additional 10 tornadoes whipped through here the other day including one in the county where I live. It was about 5 miles south of town! Too close for comfort!!! Hopefully the really nasty weather is done for at least a few days

Tuesday night, Wagoner, Oklahoma, we went to my sister's house because we thought it would be more protection than a moble home. First we heard a roar, the lights went out, we looked out and part of the fence in her backyard was gone. next door, trees were down: next block two houses were damaged. It was a F2 tornado.

You both had close calls -- even five miles is too close for comfort, where tornadoes are involved! I'm glad to hear you escaped any injury or damage, but my heart goes out to all the people who have suffered such devastating losses.

Help I'm melting! We are right in the middle of the heat wave. They say its the worst prolonged bout of heat Indiana has experienced in 70 years. The temp is in the high 90's to 100, the heat index 115-120 The dew point hovers somewhere in the 70's. To top it all off, yesterday the power went off and didn't come back until 11 PM. The dogs were miserable and I worried about the contents of the fridge as time wore on. Then when the power returned one of the air conditioners decided to have issues They say next week *maybe* it will drop back into the mid to upper 80's.

Hey, everyone on the East Coast! Please check in and let us know you're OK.
An earthquake and a hurricane in the same week -- who'd'a thunk it?

Hey, everyone on the East Coast! Please check in and let us know you're OK. An earthquake and a hurricane in the same week -- who'd'a thunk it? Made out fine. Kathy and I were together at the zoo when the earthquake hit. She was in RI on vacation. Did not feel a thing, but others did. We were probably too busy talking. Lost power for a few days after the hurricane, and many are still out. Kathy's son was out of power until last night. Minimal damage here in RI but other states did not fare as well. Vermont had lots of flooding damage. Earthquakes, hurricanes.....is a swarm of locusts next?

Hey, there was a grasshopper on my car today does that count Seriously, I'm glad to hear you and Kathy came through okay. I heard on the news Mineral, VA was hit by an aftershock today. Vermont certainly has borne the brunt of Irene but at least they have been able to get to some of the outlying areas that had been cut off by damaged roads.

Well golly gee whiz. Don't have to hear about the snow cause we had some today! On my way to work all of a sudden there were snowflakes in the air! They lasted a few seconds though. Then later that afternoon I glanced out the window and it was really coming down. No accumulation of course but what's that old wives tale of counting the number of snows? Think it has to do with the first accumulation otherwise we're in for 10 snows.

We have been on a roller coaster of weather recently. Cool enough to have the first snowflakes s few days ago now the temp is near 70 and we have been under a tornado watch all afternoon--some were seen further north of here. The wind just ripped all day yesterday. I swear some of the gusts must have been 30mph or stronger! Definitely hang onto your hat kind of wind. Last night rain and hail. Hopefully things will settle down in a couple of days.

Having our first real storm of the winter. The temp has dropped all day and is now a toasty 18. There has been snow off and on all day and last I heard we could get maybe 3 inches. The wind has really been ripping so the wind chill is Sometimes that is better not thought of!

This has been quite the winter. The other day people were running around wearing shorts and tees and I noticed daffodils, tulips and even surprise lilies poking their heads up. Yesterday we had a wintery mix most of the day and the roads were pretty damp. Well, overnight a cold front went through, the water froze and the temp this morning 11 with a stiff north wind. Hopefully the little bit of snow we did get will cushion the bulbs from the extreme change in temp so they'll bloom when the are supposed to not in the middle of February!
