Most of you know my cat has cancer and I medicate her every day - and she's done well! While I was away for the week, two of my friends took good care of her.
But, I noticed she's not really eating, she did #2 in her bed (something she never does) and threw up some white saliva-like stuff (done this before) and clinging to me. Nose is wet, saw her drink her water. I'm taking her to the vet this week, but behavioral you think? Or should I freak now? (As most of you know, when it comes to her, I do).

Although it could be more related to the fact that you went away for a week and left HooBoo home with strangers, and she is telling you that her psyche and her system are upset, it is never a bad idea to confirm with the vet, especially given the anxiety and trials you have gone through in the last year and a half with her. I know that Otis has suffered "anxiety separation" and has taken a few days to get back in the swing of things. Hopefully that's all it is and she will bounce right back to her same silly self!

I agree with Lori, although it seems to be likely that it is her way of telling you that she missed you, a trip to the vet might be a good idea. The cat we had when I was a child never ate if my mother left for more than one day. Another cat my mother had would pee in the kitchen whenever she was left at home alone so I believe that is quite common with cats. I think it's mostly behavioral so don't freak now, wait till you hear what the vet has to say. I'll send some karma your way hoping that your cat will be fine in a few days. - Chris

I think the title of the thread says it all -- "animal expert needed." If your cat was otherwise healthy, I'd say there was a good chance she was simply expressing her displeasure at your absence. But in light of her pre-existing medical problems, you definitely want to keep that vet appointment this week. You know your cat and are probably the best judge of whether she needs to be seen sooner than her scheduled appointment.
Please let us know how she's doing.

Okay, so I know very little about cats. But my advice is, go get her checked out by the vet.
If there is something wrong, you can get a headstart on sorting it out. If there is nothing wrong -- and my fingers are tightly crossed that's the case -- then your mind will have been put at ease. In the first case, going will be good for the cat. In the second, going will be good for you.
Either way, going to the vet is good. Right?
Let us know what happens, okay?

It sounds to me like separation anxiety. As most of the cat owners here would know, cats are extremely sensitive beings and even a simple change in air pressure can set off the problem.
Yes, by all means get her checked by a vet, but it's probably something that will settle down over a few days now that you're back.

Barb, I've had cats for thrity years. My two are 18 years old and my advice is go see the doctor fast, don't wait 'til the end of the week. Messing their bed is something to be checked quickly unless it's a habit she's had before. A week can be a long time in the life of a cat with health concerns.
Wishing all the best for your puss.
Love N

All I can do is echo what everone else has said. It's better to err on the side of caution. Please do keep us informed. We are all animal lovers around here as you know.

My previous dog (Mary, a Pointer) had bladder cancer, and she would have some behaviours that were not the norm from time to time. I attributed it to her feeling bad.
The clinginess is probably separation anxiety. The rest may be cancer related. Call your vet and ask.

Well, thank you all! I'm watching her and so far:
1. she's eating again; 2. she's returned to her who-house (for those who don't know, she has a little house and I call it that - I'm not well....); 3. she was playing with her toys last night and this morning, I mean running after them and everything; 4. she used her litter
So tonight I'll just hit the gym (it's up the block from me) and head home to hang with FatGirl.

Barb - I am so glad to hear your kitty is acting more like herself! It is so distressing when they are not feeling/acting right! I hope that she is okay.

Let me stress, that the FatGirl is my cat - although I have a JLo butt, nonetheless - LL called me out on this, with the gym and FatGirl. NICE! Karma!!!
