In House of Sand and Fog when he is sitting on the step with that bloody shirt clutched to his chest, another scene that is all him, without a spoken word - everything he is feeling is there on his face and there in his eyes. One other scenes that *absolutely* get me in HOS&F are is when he is with Cathy at the cabin and she talks about missing her dad. Ron doesn't have to say a word, his reaction gets me every time. Then there's this scene in the car:

Absolutely - that scene moves me every time too - there are so many Lester scenes in this movie that get me and the majority of them are those scenes where he doesn't speak a word. It's a look, an emotion, a nuance that he brings to the character - it's very visual as opposed to very verbal. And the visual is what he does with his eyes - what he is able to show you in his eyes. He conveys so much without the lines, without the words. The two pictures in Doobrah's message above are a perfect example of that abililty -- it's all written right there!

Just saw a "Freedomland" extended preview during Nip/Tuck's premiere -- it appears in a break about an hour into the show (90 minute episode). Ron looks great, but you gotta look quick! No mullet, but his hair is dyed dark brown (boo) and he got the funky-looking facial hair. Still... The movie looks really good, but the preview mostly focuses on Julianne Moore and Samuel L. Jackson. Ron get's a couple of lines and his voice sounds well-rested. Just a little scratchy. So nice to see RE on Tuesday night again....

I saw it too just as I left the chat last night and tried to get back on to have others watch but didn't want to take my eyes away from the preview. I did hear his wonderful voice a few times and a few quick shots of our boy, and you're right, dark hair and facial hair but it was great to see him back on the screen.

I hate to sound Hollywood here, but I am after all in So Cal. But, I noticed that RE"s was the first name after the title. That is pretty good billing! Huge Samuel Jackson fan here, I am really looking forward to this movie.

Appreciate someone providing the link for the trailer - I surfed for it last night and came up totally empty.
This is one I will definitely check out - it looks good as does Mr. Eldard - those eyes, those eyes, those eyes!

I found the trailer, had to guess which picture to click on though. The movie looks interesting, but scary. I'm afraid I wouldn't sleep after I watched it. But, I might risk it anyway.

I'm wondering who the character Danny is. For those who have read the book, is he the carjacked kid's father? His uncle? How does the character fit into the story?

He is the brother of the child's mother. This is from a Samuel L. Jackson interview. He gives you an idea of Ron's character. "We're about two weeks into shooting "Freedomland", me and Julianne Moore. It's the story of a young mother who gets carjacked in the projects and her kid is in the car and her brother's a cop in the next town so they descend on the projects. We're trying to find a car and a kid, and her brother and his police cohorts are jacking everybody in the projects and creating a hot racial atmosphere. So it's a pretty dark and crazy movie. "

I actually don't mind Ron's look in Freedomland: Kind of sexy, in a weird way. It's not exactly this: But it could have been a lot worse:

I don't mind it either. Kind of reminds me of Bakersfield. At least he doesn't have dark hair.
