Okay...several of you have very interesting handles over here and I am curious as to the origin of many of them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is curious so, if you feel comfortable sharing, we'd like to know where you came up with your name.
I'll start.
Shmeep is a sound my brother used to make a lot when he was being silly. It turned into conversational filler when he was being really silly and it eventually became something he claimed he would name one of his future children (that, and Bobo of course). He recently admitted to me that he's not sure he was even the person who started the whole Shmeep thing. He thinks it was his friend, Weird Mark (who is unaware of his nickname).
It always seemed that whatever name I chose for myself was taken, so I just went with Shmeep and--surprise!--it was still available. Except over at fanfiction.net. Would you believe someone else is using Shmeep over there? That was most distressing for me.

Mine is a result of every single name I wanted at ebay being taken. I must have tried at least 50 times, so I decided to type in vero for Veronica, r, which is my middle name's first letter and l, which is the first letter of my last name. And the good thing is, this handle hasn't been taken anywhere I choose to use it.

And mine is just a combination of my first initials (imagine growing up with 3 Ls in ones name, first, middle and last. At least my husband's last name gave me a little bit of variety - I am LLDH thanks to a hyphenated last name!)
When I started to post show reviews, etc., at TVTome, I wanted something that reminded me of Jimmy Dunbar - but, alas, everything seemed to be taken. So, what to call myself? I am not overly creative in that department and relied on a physical characteristic -- those eyes and what surrounds them -- very LOOOOOONG LASHES. Worked with my LL and the name was born.
Like Smeep, though, LongLashes was already taken at FanFiction.net - hence, I am LongLashes1.

Casey is our dog's name (well, one of the three) and the RDu are my husband's initials, thus rducasey.

Mine is just a bad pun using my former initials. If I were to change it up, it would now be alwrite4now, but that's too much trouble and I instinctively type it the other way, so I let it be.
Some of you know me by my other screen name, Darediva. That's because an acquaintance once accused me of being a diva because I worked out of my house rather than punch a time clock. When I related that story to another friend, she said I ought to be called Darediva for my passion about comic books. So there ya go.

My name is probably easy to figure out. Bjobsessed came from my love of Blind Justice. My ebay name is Crutchgirl. That is what my nephew calls me. For anyone that doesn't know, I have cerebral palsy and walk with crutches, hence the name Crutchgirl. I thought it was cute and it sounds better than the other name he calls me which is Fourlegs.

Eyphur is my real nickname, given to me by some of my friends. It comes from the end of my (highly unimaginative) first name, Jennifer. I started using Eyphur as a screen name when I first got online in 1999 just incase I ever met someone I already knew. After that I just kept it because it's allways avalible and Jenny (my other nickname) is usually taken. I do use a different name on ebay, I'm not sure why, but it is my middle name, Lynn (bet you coulda guessed that one) and my phone number from my freshman dorm room ( was a junior when I registered for ebay).

Every time I tried to use my name, Deborah, online it was always taken. So I use a nickname an old boyfriend used to call me: Doobrah. It's always available. Imagine that.
(If you must know, he called me "Doobrah Calgon, take me awaaaay!!" because my last name sounds somewhat like Calgon.)

Montrealslp is Montreal S.L.P. as in Montreal (where I live) Speech-Language Pathologist (which I will be after finishing this school year). I used to use bjfan (on the other board) and that's kinda obvious (Blind Justice fan...NO, NOT the OTHER b j!). On Josh Groban's message board, I'm known as LetMeFallIfIMustFall which is the title of an amazing song on Josh's first CD. That song literally inspired me to apply to graduate school. (thanks Joshy!). And as some of you must know, my email addy is hardtowakeup... that one was given to me by a roommate many years ago, because it was her job to make sure I got up on time! (Back then, I didn't even hear alarm clocks...slept like a rock!). I'm better now, but I kept the name just cuz I kinda like it.

I wish I could say that I picked Kathy because of the character in House of Sand and Fog and that I know how it would sound for RE to say that name, etc. BUT... when it came to registering for the boards, I did sit and ponder something creative. I had already seen some of your names on this board and others. I was just not creative enough to make something up, so stuck with something that I would remember easily - my real name. Sorry!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who went with the pet thing.
maggiethecat is . . . yeah, she's my cat, and a reference to Tennessee Williams. I picked it because I knew I'd remember it in the middle of the night when I was too tired to sit up straight, but not too tired to post!
The real Maggie, by the way, is gorgeous. Unofficial Maine Coon cat (yes, Dogma, she came from a rescue organization!), longhaired brown and black tabby with white paws, a white ruff, and big round green eyes. She is also a complete lunatic but that's another story . . . .

She's baaack! My name cam from my father's childhood nickname for me, House Mouse. Eventually he shortened it to just Mouse, which is why it think it is awesome that people here have automatically shortened it to Mouse too! I hadn't thought about the nickname in years, but when I was pressed to come up with an AIM ID it came to me. I liked it and stuck with it!
Hey bjobsessed, you have been busily bidding away over on ebay! I noticed that crutchgirl had bids on tons of BJ items over there and couldn't help but wondering if she was part of this site! I am glad to find out that you are, just using a pseudonym. Let me know if you got it all.

I live in western Indiana so a Hoosier is what I am. Family has been here since at least 1816. They have never really decided how they came up with that nickname but my personal favorite is from James Whitcomb Riley who told the story of how a man went into a tavern, which were pretty rough in those days, and came across an ear on the floor and asked "Who's ear!!!" Anyway--the name seemed a logical choice and is easy to remember!
