One year ago . . .

I know, I know, I should probably wait until midnight to post this, but even though March 8th isn't until tomorrow, it is Tuesday night . . . and I still, all these months later, have this lingering, itchy feeling up the back of my neck that I should be watching Blind Justice at 10:00.

Hard to believe it's been a year since I turned on ABC to check out the new Steven Bochco drama. As I've said, I'd seen none of the promos, only vaguely remembered Ron Eldard from the early years of E.R., and so was expecting little more than another cop show. And I was blown away.

I still am. As aren't we all?

So once again, let's all raise a glass of combat pay to Jimmy Dunbar as he tackles his first day back on The Job . . .



. . . and a toast to the stalwart detectives of the Eighth Precinct, and the talented actors, writers, and producers who brought them so memorably to life.

And let's raise a glass to Shmeep and Housemouse for giving us this wild and wonderful forum where we can all be ourselves . . . funny, smart, opinionated, and just plain terrific.

Little did I know the night I watched that, how much I would eventually know about that man. Wow, what a great picture and what a great 13 weeks. Sigh......too bad it all had to end.

And next Tuesday is the one year anniversary of "Four Feet Under," and the week after that "Rub a Tub Tub," and the week after that "Up on the Roof," at which point I may just open one of the bottles of champagne in the back of the fridge . . . .

Nah. This is still great brain candy. And waaaaaaay better than anything else on TV.

Yes, little did I know a year ago, when I sat down to watch the pilot of Blind Justice, just what was in store for any of us. A year later, I can honestly say that it is an anniversary I will gladly celebrate even though I miss it - terribly. I have not tired of watching it and still find little moments that I may have missed the eighth or ninth time round.

And who can forget moments like this - there were so many of them - that moved us and touched us.






As special as Blind Justice was for so many reasons, as memorable as Ron Eldard was playing Jim Dunbar, surrounded by a stellar cast, brought to life by the talents of Bochco and his vision, it is what it has left us that I love. I know my life is richer because of it, I have found some very good friends, some of whom I will treasure my lifetime, I have taken so much enjoyment from this board, from its members, from the fanfic, from the videos, from all of it.

It's hard to believe that a television show could have been the catalyst for all of this and that in of itself makes it incredibly special. I treasure Blind Justice - I always will. And I can honestly say I didn't see any of this coming!

I can only echo all of the things already said. I have been thinking all day that this was the day we all watch Blind Justice at ten--and it's not until tomorrow! That just goes to show you how programmed I/we are to watch it on Tues at ten even though it has been gone for months now.

Thank Blind Justice for enlightening so many on the struggles, hopes, dreams, and "normalness" of those with disabilities.

Thank you for blessing us with a presence that is still here one year later.

Thank you Ron Eldard for the dedication and believability you brought to the role and person of Jim Dunbar.

Thank you, most of all, for bringing this small, but wonderful group of people together. We've agreed and disagreed, laughed and cried, and been discouraged only to be lifted up by someone whom most of us have never met in the traditional way.

That is what makes Blind Justice special.

Here's to meeting some of these special people in just four days and many more good years together.

And that's all I can say because I'm getting all choked up.

One year ago today I took my piccolo to be repaded. As I drove along the winding road of Rt. 88 south towards Wheeling while passing through Oglebay Park I heard the most peculiar avertisement on the radio some thin allong the lines of "I'm not a blind cop, I'm a homicide detective" which piqued my curiosity. And then I heard it again (while I was trying to figure out if I had missed my turn-I hadn't). As soon as I got home I began looking online and read every review of the show I could find. Shortly thereafter I became a fan.
Here it is a year later and I have a giant subway poster hanging on my wall and a whole lot of really terrific friends from the forum.
May the next year be just as great as the first!

It was a great series, and it is too bad that the series had only 13 episodes. But, I wouldn't say that it has ended. Here we are still discussing the episodes and finding new things all the time! We are also enjoying so many other discussions, games, etc., and the fellowship of a varied group of individuals with this common bond. I've had a great time and am so thankful to have "met" all of you!

It's a bittersweet anniversary. It's hard to believe all of this was still ahead of us, only a year ago. Still, the "sweet" -- thirteen marvelous episodes that we're still discussing a year later, and the chance to meet some pretty amazing people -- definitely outweighs the "bitter."

I was simply going to start my day today as always - just checking the overnight posts. Wasn't going to login, but you have forced me to do it. This is one of my favorite screencaps. Thanks for posting. Marlon's Brando, a fantastic episode and this is when Jim is talking to Karen in the squad about what she saw in Condell's apartment. This shot reflects in his face what he has been going through. And he looks so tired and vulnerable - don't you just want to hug him? Well, you probably just want to hug him plenty of other times too. Blame the early hour for my ramblings. But again - thanks. And Happy Anniversary to all (though my anniversary comes later - didn't start till Doggone)
