I've got a guide dog! Her name is Cindy and she's a Labrador/Golden Retriever cross. I've had her home with me for about a month. She works fine most of the time, but we're having a couple of problems. It's really hard work, but I don't regret getting her. She's a wonderful dog.

Hey congratulations! Is your avatar a picture of her? If that is Cindy she looks really beautiful - I assume those are your legs?
What's been the best thing? When you say it is really hard work, do you mean learniing how to work with her?
Cheers, Natascha

Congratulations! I'm sure both of you are still learning how to work together, and you'll soon reach the top of the human and canine learning curves. Good luck -- and keep us posted!

How do you become a guide dog trainer? i've always wondered, do you learn by working at Guide Dogs Australia or RVIB? From what I've been able to find out you get involved in various ways, from beginning as a volunteer to being a recognised Dog Trainer/behaviourust through another organisation and then moving into that specialty. I'm looking at doing it via the latter
