Did anyone happen to watch last night's Without a Trace? I don't think I am going out on a limb here by feeling that there were certain characteristics last night's episode had in common with a favorite show of ours.
To recap for those who may not have seen it--at the end of last season, Martin and Danny, two of the FBI agents, were transporting a suspect and were ambushed, the suspect being killed and Martin critically wounded. Last night, Martin returned to work after 6 weeks off and is attending rehab. He is now using a cane(just why they did not elaborate). Danny who has been feeling guilty for not being more alert to their situation and for not being wounded, last week shot through a closed door at a suspect who had a hostage, thus endangering the hostage, and this week tried to stop a kid from detonating a bomb and actually got the kid to try and blow it--it didn't due to a faulty wire. Jack, head FBI honcho, has reamed Danny a new one for his reckless actions.
Danny has apologized to Martin for not visiting him and is uncomfortable around him. Jack is just plain uncomfortable, seeing Martin with a cane and for being in rehab, feeling guilty for not sending more back-up, for failing to recognize the danger etc.,etc. Martin is
uncomfortable with everything--being back at work, being semi-disabled,for feeling that Jack has called in another agent because he isn't able to be in the field, yet he has more empathy with the missing kid's mother.
Anyway, as I watched it I just kept recalling the pilot and Up on the Roof from BJ. There were so many similarities!!! The wounded cop is not the same man he was, the wounded cop trying to fit back into work, the partner feeling guilty, the partner overcompensating and trying to prove he still has it, the men(I noticed the female agents welcomed him back, no problems) looking at him and his cane and seeing proof of just how dangerous their job is and that it could be them next. Hmmmm,I thought, shades of BJ. 8-)Did anyone see it and think the same?
