Last night, I saw a commerical for that new show Heist which is going to be on NBC. Its about 5 crooks who plan to simultaneously rob 5 stores in Beverly Hills. Just what we need on TV--teaching some neer-do-well how to rob some store! Anyway, who popped up on the commerical but Reno Wilson, the lovable, gulliable Tom Selway! I was only half paying attention at the time but he seems to be playing another cop and the part of his scene that caught my attention was his saying "pick that eyeball off the pavement!" Ewwwww!

I watched the pilot last night and yup, Reno Wilson is another cop. He has banter with his partner that is supposed to be comic relief, but just fell flat to me.
I didn't really like this show. It seemed like it was very self-conscious and smart-alecky, trying too hard to be too cute. Plot looks interesting, but the style of the show outweighed that for me.

I also ended up watching it last night. I liked the scenes with the robbers a heck of a lot more than the cop part. When Reno was partnered with that guy all I could think of was "shades of Glen Semple" !
I thought Dougray Scott did an excellent job. I didn't even recognize him on the commericals for the show! I only recognized the actors playing the old guy Pops and James but can't remember their names. The ones playing the cops--pretty faceless to me. Could have been anyone. And having the head of robbery/homocide a klepto? I guess they feel that have to have some kind of hook for a character anymore.
