I'm loving this Daily Show spin off! I didn't think Stephen Colbert would be able to maintain his O'Reilly-esque personna for long, but he's brilliant and the show just gets better each time. Every word out of his mouth is tongue-in-cheek and I've never seen anything like his interviews. Some of the best and most clever writing you'll see on television.
Here are his current lists:
On Notice Grizzly Bears Barbara Streisand Michael Adams The British Empire James Brady Black Hole at Center of Galaxy The Toronto Raptors Pant Cuffs "Business Casual" Israeli Newspapers Faberge Eggs Lutherans
Dead to Me
New York Intellectuals Men with Beards California's 50th District Heather Clark Bowtie Pasta Owls CNN en Espanol Screw-Cap Wines Cast of Friends

This is really funny. Yesterday I happened to mention on this board that Northridge, CA is the porn capital of the United States. I went home and got caught up on this week's episodes of The Colbert Report and, coincidentally, Stephen Colbert showed an interview with my former congressman, Brad Sherman, the other night. Colbert has an ongoing series called "Better Know a District" and California's 27th, where I'm from, was the one he was doing. The interview was hilarious. Brad Sherman wanted to emphasize how family friendly The Valley is and how great Cal State Northridge is but all Stephen wanted to talk about was the porn industry, which Brad Sherman consistently denied even existed. I thought it was great television. If you have the urge, here is the interview: www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_colbert_report/videos/district/index.jhtmlWhen you get to that page, just click on the interview that says it's California's 27th. Right now it's the first one on that page because it's the most recent.

I LOVE the Colbert Report. It is hillarious. I also like the end of the Daily Show where Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert talk about what is coming up.

I LOVE the Colbert Report. It is hilarious. I also like the end of the Daily Show where Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert talk about what is coming up. Did you see the Saint Patrick's day one? Stephen Colbert started river dancing during Jon Stewart's handoff segment! It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I love the way he introduces guests from his desk and then takes a bow and sucks up all the applause for himself as he runs over to the other stage, where the guest is already sitting there meekly waiting for him. Brilliant. I especially love it when he does something a little different. Like when he had Tony Campolo on a couple of weeks ago, he was going with a religious theme so when it was time to run over to his guest, a bunch of people dressed like they were at a Jewish wedding came with a chair, sat Stephen in that chair, and carried him over to Tony Campolo. This show is spoiling me. I hate to say it, but sometimes it's even better than The Daily Show. I know. Blasphemy! But it's really that clever. And since Jon Stewart produces it, I can say that with a clear conscience. I just found out that my eleven-year-old nephew loves Colbert, but doesn't think much of Stewart. I thought that was very interesting. I need my daily dose of both.
