Maggie suggested we start a Godfather thread so here goes. The Godfather is my very favorite movie of all time. I have seen it more times than I can count, probably over 100. Al Pacino is amazing. Diane Keaton, James Caan, John Cazale, and Robert Duvall. What a cast. What a movie. I didn't even think of Marlon Brando, that is how fabulous all of the actors are. If you are a Godfather fan, like Maggie and me, share your favorite character, scene, or dialog. A screencap from one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Michael at the restaurant after his first "hit".

What a coincidence! My nephew had never seen any of the movies, so last weekend we introduced him to number 1 and he loved it! It has been a while since I have seen 2 and 3.
One of my fav. scenes from no. 1 is when Michael takes charge in the hospital when he finds all his father's bodyguards have been tossed out and how he ends up enlisting Enzo (sp??) the Italian baker to help him. They scare off the bad guys and when its all over, Enzo is shaking so hard he can barely put his cigarette in his mouth!

Oh, so many moments! One of my favorite sequences? After they've "gone to the mattresses," the montage to the out-of-tune piano. The scene where Richard Castellano teaches "Mikey" how to fix a nice sauce for the boys. ALL the Little Italy scenes in Godfather II, the only sequel to ever win a Best Picture Oscar.
Both Godfather pictures are on my list of movies that, when you're channel-surfing, if you come across one frame? You're in for the whole thing. They cannot be turned off.

I was watching Part II last night on AMC and I have a question. How do you think Pacino managed to make his eyes look so dead and cold in that movie? When he is sitting their talking to Talia Shire as his mom is close to death, there is nothing in those eyes. Nothing, just ice. Then, as he hugs Freddo he gives the order to have him killed. Nothing, no twinkle, his eyes are dead.
What an amazing movie.

How do you think Pacino managed to make his eyes look so dead and cold in that movie? Oh, maybe talent?! It really is an amazing performance, isn't it? And still compelling no matter how many times you've seen it.
