Unfortunately the voters here didn't come to their senses... We will have another four "dark years of of racism, xenophobia, meanness, and hatred" (to which I would add greed)" since we re-elected our Prime Minister at our election.
(When I say "we" it's not we as in I voted for him, but a we as in the nation as a whole )
The only good thing coming out of the election we had on Nov. the 13th. was that the so-called "Danish Peoples Party" lost some of their influence. Unfortunately they have been supporting the Prime Minister for the last six years and they are a disgrace to any modern society. It's a horrible, horrible party, they are racist, they are bigots, xenophobic, opportunistic and I'm ashamed to live in a country where someone like that could achieve so much influence. They claim to be the Danish Peoples party, well don't count me in, they are not my people.
How depressing! Unfortunately, it seems the U.S. is not the only country where the politicians have decided the way to win elections is by appealing to the worst in people. I am sooo not looking forward to the next eleven months.
Oh you poor things - says me just 3 days into it!
Chris, I understand exactly what you're saying - that feeling of being "alien in your own country" as a former Aus PM has described the last 11 years in the last few days. It's exactly why we were honestly thinking of going somewhere else for a few years until a few short days ago.
Martha, I reckon things are turning in your neck of the woods. One of the big factors in the turnaround here was climate change/not signing up to the Kyoto Protocol, and of course, the war ...
