Has anyone ever experienced this? My 7 year old cat has been in the hospital since Monday; on Friday last, she was perfectly fine, then I woke up to a completely different animal, lethargic, not eating/drinking. They gave her fluids and a blood transfusion and she is perkier, purring and "head-butting" me, but the situation itself, as of last night, is no different and the vet has to now send her to a specialist (another hospital) to see what the story is. Apparently, she's loosing red blood cells and, after every test imaginable, they can't find where. Needless to say, I am heartbroken and I'm searching for some sort of answer. I don't know what to do.

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. You'll both be in my thoughts.

Thank you. You're a "karma whore"? Neat! I hope there's some positive answer somewhere - it's really scary.

I'll be thinking of you both. Never heard of anything quite like that, but doctors are smart these days. So here's hoping! Please let us know what happens.

Thank you all for your support - I know you all love and possess animals, that's why I thought maybe someone here may have gone through similar.

I can't even guess at a possible diagnosis, but I know what it's like to have a cat in the hospital and not know what is wrong. I hope the specialists will be able to find the answer. I'll be thinking of both of you. Please let us know how she's doing when you have a chance.

As of last night, she was comfortable, purring and quite social. She was on my lap "kneading" me and drooling (yea, gross, but who cares!) like she always does and purring, being nosy. The vet will go down her throat today with a camera because her stomach is inflamed and the surrounding lymph nodes. They are NOT suggesting cancer, but WILL be looking for every possible scenario that caused this. I appreciate everyone's concern - I didn't know where to turn.

Just saw this, Barb. I have passed the info along to a friend who is a cat rescuer and a research scientist, and knows a great deal about cat physiology. I'll let you know if she has any ideas on this.
Meanwhile, my best to you and your kitty. Mine are my best buddies, and I get terrible upset when one of them is ill.

I have a friend who has a friend that works at a vet's office. I'll ask and she if she knows. I got in touch with my friend tonight. The one I need to talk to is away right now. Hopefully, she'll be back and at church on Sunday. I'll look for her. If she's not there, I'll get in touch with her asap. She is actually a vet technician, but is knowledgeable about a lot of things. Never hurts to ask. Hang in there.

This has nothing to do with the original topic of this thread but I still need help. Last night I started getting this pop up on my computer. It is for some kind of privacy shield or cleaner and says I have dangerous files on my computer that may damage it as well as porn and adult files--which I do not, btw. It now pops up about every five minutes and automatically starts scanning and then tells me I have to install this program to get rid of all this unwanted stuff and that I'm at risk as far as security goes. I'm sure it's some kind of spyware or something, but how do I get rid of it? My spyware program doesn't do it and it's really annoying since it takes over the computer by closing me out of all other websites while it's scanning. It has shut me out of here three times already so it's taken me a long time to write this. Even when it doesn't pop up, there's a little blip in my screen and my cursor disappears.
Any ideas?

Thanks to Natascha, I think the problem is solved already. She suggested doing a system restore and it hasn't popped up since. I never thought of that. Guess that tells you how often I restore doesn't it.
