The trailer for the new Star Trek movie came out yesterday. I happened to see it on TV Guides site -- www.tvguide.com Go to movies then trailers and find it. If the movie is even remotely like the trailer...wow!

I saw a trailer on TV yesterday evening -- not sure if it was the same one you saw. I noticed that Zachary Quinto ("Sylar" in Heroes and the gambling bellhop in "In your Face") plays the young Spock.

Looking good! I couldn't find it on the TV guide site, but it is also available on IMDB. I'll be seeing it!

I went to see Star Trek last night as well. It was very good. It was hard for me to get used to the new characters. It took me a while to be able to get into the new Kirk. He seemed to be too much of a rebel to me. After a while, however, he was fun to watch. He got beat up a few times. I loved Captain Christopher Pike and Spock. The guy who played the doctor was very amusing and the guy who played Chekov was quite annoying. Uhura was great, very sexy woman and a new twist on her character,( I don't want to give it away in case someone else goes to see it. The special effects were very good. To me, it just isn't the old Star Trek even though it is a prequel. I think it is the Star Trek characters reinvented for a whole new generation. The Star Trek franchise will live long and prosper.

I saw it yesterday too, and I totally agree that Zachary Quinto was perfectly cast as Spock. I have never seen a single episode of any of the series and I have only seen one of the movies (IV I think - the one where they come to earth) - so I am probably not the best judge. I did like the movie though.

Time to resurrect an old thread! The new Star Trek movie Into Darkness is coming out in May. The trailers have been out for some time on youtube and it looks to be an exciting ride. There has been a lot of speculation as to who the villain (played by Sherlock himself Benedict Cumberbatch). I'm leaning toward Gary Mitchell from Where No Man Has Gone Before.

Star Trek *finally* came to my local theater--guess it was held up elsewhere. We have an old time theater one were the price is not outrageous ($5.00) and you can actually afford popcorn and drinks! Anyway, I loved the movie! Since this is altered timeline ( for those who don't know, in the previous movie time was changed by the appearance of a Romulun ship), an old story was reworked and boy did it work. Benedict Cumberbatch of Sherlock was the villain (don't want to give away who in case you haven't seen it yet). The cast really gelled and there was the humor I've always associated by ST. And the special effects, wow! I especially liked the extended look at the interior of the Enterprise. It is one *big* ship--on screen of course. Hopefully there will be another yet another movie in the not too distant future.
