Does anyone have to buy a converter box? I bought one yesterday. Hooked it up last night. It kind of reminds me of the cable box we had when I was a small child only this came with a remote. I get at least 3 new (digital only?) channels with it and found one of my favorite programs airing on one of them.
Do you think there is going to be a run on these boxes come February 17th?

We bought one last fall or whenever it was they became available. My sister hooked it up but we are still having problems getting the channels. We have to see about an antennae (which they failed to tell us we would also need ) so, hopefully, we will get the channels we have always gotten. This is such a pain. Surely they could have thought of something else. My brother said they should have mandated all TV's be made ready at least 10 years ago instead of just the big fancy ones. If people haven't gotten one already they are in for a wait. Last I heard, about 2 million people are on a waiting list!

It appears likely the change-over will be postponed until June, according to this article. By the way, people who have cable or a satellite dish don't have to do anything. Only those who get TV signals through an antenna or rabbit ears will be affected by the change and need a converter or a new TV.
