Now that Fall is here (well a few more days actually, but the weather is already telling me it is here.) are there any TV shows that you are looking forward to watching....whether new or returning? I took a liking to Lie To Me last season and am looking forward to its return. I really don't care for the reality shows and it seems like they are multiplying but I also have seen lots of previews for new dramas.

I liked Lie to Me as well! But I think it is coming back midseason, Jan/Feb unfortunately.
Here's what I have seen so far--some good, some bad, but none I will be seeing again.
Melrose Place--not bad, good actually, but I refuse to get sucked in to another serialized drama now that I am finally free from the yoke of Prison Break
Glee--what on earth is all the hype for? Didn't grab me at all.
The Beautiful Life: TBL---Not good: CRAP
I recorded Community, will watch tonight.
I'm really looking forward to the Ron James Show, but it's Canadian and only we Canucks will get it.
Seems everything just about is premiering this week, my VCR will be very busy!
PS. I'll interrupt this thread to let everyone know that Clive Owen will be on Jimmy Fallon on Monday and Regis and Kelly on Wednesday, promoting his new drama "The Boys are Back". It got an eight minute standing ovation at TIFF this week!
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread programming.

I plan to catch Flashforward, Mercy (I just love how she grabs the woman's nose to get her attention in the commerical ;D) and Three Rivers (mainly to see Alex O'Laughlin again). I have caught Glee on its rerun night of Friday. I have liked it but I never remember its regular night. Guess that means I am not a hardcore fan. This summer I caught up with The Big Bang Theory which is very funny. And of course, there is NCIS baby which follows it.

Did anyone catch the premiere last night of "The Good Wife" with Julianna Margolies? EXCELLENT! She looks wonderful, the show has genuine emotional content, and the pace is fast so you have to sit up and pay attantion. I was disappointed that Chris Noth was relegated to one scene and a phone call, but maybe he'll have more to do in the coming weeks. As for the veracity of the legal aspects of the show, I leave that to mlm, our resident expert. It couldn't be worse than "Raising the Bar" ) and at least she's a defense lawyer. We shall see. I also hold out great hopes for "Mercy" and it's nice that the networks are actually having a good old-fashioned Premiere Week. Mostly, though, I'm looking forward to new episodes of old faves, like "Medium" and "Law & Order." I just discovered "The Big Bang Theory" about four months ago and it is a hoot! ;D

I don't watch lawyer shows, on principle, and because I'd just end up throwing things at the TV. I watched Glee for the first time last week. I thought it was the first episode, but it turned out it was the third. I thought it was OK, not "must-see TV," but I enjoyed it, although I found the main character a little blah. Jane Lynch, the "ME" from Blind Justice, is in it, playing a very different role. I'm not sure why she's so against the glee club, but that's probably because I missed the first two episodes. My personal guilty pleasure, Fringe, returned last week. Oh, goody! Another season of weird pseudo-science! And John Noble rocks! ;D

I watched "The Good Wife" and quite liked it. I hope she dumps him and lets him rot in jail. Seems like it is heading that way. I thought it was a good balance between focusing on the crime and focusing on the personal.
Also saw "Mercy", not bad.
Saw "The Vampire Diaries"--why do I bother?
I recorded Accidentally on Purpose, Cougartown, and Modern Family--a busy week!

Yeah, inuvik, I agree with you about "The Good Wife." Let's hope they decide to focus more on the personal than the legal . . . which is the only way we'll get mlm to ever watch it. "Mercy" was . . . okay . . . but did make me wonder why NBC cancelled ER, a great medical drama even in its waning years, and then went for the new and untried in the same genre, and with what already seems like a weaker cast. I don't do vampires ( : so I didn't even bother with "The Vampire Diaries." I'm just looking forward to the premiere tonight of the 20th season of "Law & Order: the Mothership." I know I'm the only one here who watches it, but it really is a well-scripted addiction with great New York actors (gotta have my weekly Sam Waterston fix). One more season and they beat "Gunsmoke" for the long-running record! ;D

"Mercy" was okay but I wasn't thrilled with it. The commercials always make it seem better ! Hopefully it will improve.
Didn't watch the Good Wife. Being next door to Illinois I hear all the time about corruption at all levels so when I heard it was set there it was like "And they think this is new!"
Loved Flashforward. It has a large cast and keeping everyone straight might be a challenge but I'm up for it! The premise is interesting and different so I hope it does well. And getting to watch Joseph Fiennes doesn't hurt either!

I watched the rerun of "Mercy" last night, and it really started to grow on me the second time through. I don't think I'll be wildly upset if it doesn't make it to a second season (like another show we all know ) but for now it's a pleasant diversion. "Flashforward" I probably won't see until and unless it makes it into reruns, since it's opposite "Law & Order" and my VCR isn't hooked up at the moment. I did watch a snippet the other night and was amused to see that Joseph Fiennes is doing an American accent. Hugh Laurie's a Brit doing American, Simon Baker's from Oz and playing American . . . why are producers lumbering actors with the added acting chore of going against their given speech? All it would take would be a few lines in the script to cover the ptoblem, and then these blokes could talk more natural-like, wot?

I've been watching Flashforward, too, and so far it's interesting enough to keep me watching. It has an outstanding cast, including Brian O'Byrne, who played Father Flynn in Doubt on Broadway (before a certain Blond Dude). I have also begun watching Lie to Me, which for some reason I didn't catch last season. As much as I enjoy the Simon Baker eye candy on The Mentalist, I think Lie to Me is better. The Mentalist is a little too cute for my taste (not that that will keep me from watching, for the aforementioned eye candy).

Since the new fall season has begun, I thought I'd revive this thread for this year. What are you watching, old or new? I'm not finding a lot of "appointment TV." In fact, there probably is only one show I'd put in that category: Fringe. I'm looking forward to the return of Caprica next week. Of the new shows, I agree with mags that Blue Bloods looks like a pretty good cop show, and I'd put Detroit 1-8-7 with Michael Imperioli in the same category. (Unfortunately, it's on at the same time as Caprica, so I'll have to remember to record it if I want to keep watching). I've also watched The Event and Undercovers, but as they say, the jury is still out on them. I'll let others comment on sticoms and lawyer shows, neither of which I watch. But I hate it that a lawyer show with Jim Belushi(!) has appropriated the name of the wonderful 1960s series, The Defenders.Best thing I saw all the promiere week? Ken Burns's lovely and heartfelt PBS sequel to his baseball series, called "The Tenth Inning." Took me right back to the moment when the BoSox FINALLY clinched the series . . . right, rducasey??? I watched The Tenth Inning, too. It was well done, but in my opinion didn't measure up to the first nine "innings." It lacked the evocative quality of the earlier series. This was probably because it dealt with recent events with which I was thoroughly familiar. As a West Coast resident, I did not appreciate the emphasis on the Yankees and Red Sox. C'mon, there are 28 other teams! From where I sit, those two teams represent what is wrong in baseball today, where the super-wealthy teams try to buy championships by paying ridiculous amounts of money to the players, while the less wealthy teams develop the talented players but can't afford to keep them. I would have liked to see this addressed more in the program. Needless to say, I'll be rooting for the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL playoffs.

Eileen Atkins, who played Sister Aloysius opposite RE in Doubt, was in Murder on the Orient Express on "Masterpiece Mystery" this week, playing Princess Dragomiroff.
It was very well done, with lots of "period" details, and David Suchet was excellent as Poirot, as always. However, I think I prefer the movie version with Peter Ustinov. This version was shorter, only an hour and a half, and it seemed as if quite a bit was left out. Still very entertaining.

I caught Detroit 1-8-7 last week and was pleasantly surprised. One show I do love is Nikita. I hadn't seen the original so came to it fresh. I guess my guilty pleasure is Hawaii 5-0. It was a staple when we were growing up and I had to see how Alex O'Laughlin handled being Steve McGarrett! The chemistry between him and Scott Caan as Danny is great.

OK, people, I know you haven't listened before, but listen up: Fringe just keeps getting better and better. It really is the best thing on network television right now. (The only thing in its class is Mad Men, which is on cable). If you're still not convinced, here's why: Fringe: Why It's One of Our Favorite Shows.
