Wow, catching all the live reports on this makeshift helium balloon that had a young boy inside and was released accidently. The balloon has returned to earth and no child inside. It is in Lindy's area it seems. Live coverage on tv. Oh I so hope the boy is going to be found ok. There is even talk that he was not inside and may be hiding. Hope something like that is true and he is OK.

Now somebody better have a "talkin to" with those kids.

According to the report I read, he was found hiding in a box in the attic of the family home. Maybe he did let the balloon escape and hid because he was afraid he'd get into trouble. What's baffling to me is that the authorities claimed to have searched the house when the escaped balloon was first reported and didn't find him.
Yes, it's very good news that he's safe -- even if he may be "grounded for life" (pun intended).

I guess this family was featured on Wife swap on ABC. I just saw a news report and the dad says the boy is not in trouble and the Dad cried because the boy said he hid because the dad "yelled" at him. OH BROTHER!!!!

One of our radio stations has been having a great debate about whether the whole thing was staged/fake or not.
Apparently the kid said he hid in the garage because dad told him to "for a TV Show". Also, they have been on two reality shows in the past. The radio also said the kid was just on TV with Diane Sawyer, was so upset he threw up, and the parents didn't even leave to go the washroom with him--they let him go by himself and stayed for the interview.
Haven't verified this, but our radio station is having a field day today with viewer comments!

When I first saw the video of this I wondered where the kid was supposed to be riding. Inside There didn't seem to be any kind of basket or ropes or anything and he couldn't have been inside and breathing the helium. It was rather confusing to say the least. And about the parents. Shades of Jon and Kate and all the publicity they've been having lately!

Apparently this dad is a real "Wacko". On the news here, it is reported that he believes that he is the decendent of aliens and that he was the captain of an alien ship. Whether or not all of this is true, this family is very bazaar and the children are completely out of control. I saw that interview this morning on GMA, and everytime Diane Sawyer asked the children a question, they would look at their parents as to see if they were answering right. I think that the stress of it all was too much for the young child. Any body who takes their children into the location of a tornado instead of trying to protect them are as far as I see abusing their children.

You all have probably all forgotten by now this rediculous story by now but apparently the news media here has not. The dad had a "Big" announcement today so the media was camped outside of his door waiting with baited breath to hear it. He came out with a box and said "Come back tonight at 7:30 and I will give my big announcement! Meanwhile, here is a box to submit all your questions." Wow after stories like Jon Benet, Azazi the terrorist, the frozen dead guy in the mountains, and this idiot, I will never expect my friends on this board to ever want to visit me in Colorado. There are just too many wierdos here. Seriously, folks, we normal people really outwiegh all the bizarre folks here.

The part of the interview where the kid throws up has been played over and over but they cut it off right there so I don't know what happens after that since I never saw it in the first place. The kid did say they did it for a show so now the police are going to investigate more.

I don't know what to think about this family. Clearly odd, to say the least. I was watching it live as the balloon was blowing all over the place and it was very scary, imagining a child in there, freezing and terrified. That's what I get for having CNN playing at work. I'm thrilled the child is safe, but now that I've seen clips of the family on their two stints on "Wife Swap" (very easy to find online) and after hearing the kid saying he thought he was hiding "for the show" and after seeing the dad's reaction when someome asked if he thought he was going to have to foot part of the bill for all the rescue crews--he went gray at that--I really think something is up. I don't know what kind of publicity they thought they could get from this or how they thought it could benefit them...but if they wanted attention, they got it.
But I don't blame the state of Colorado for any of this. There are whack jobs everywhere. Except for Maryland. Everyone is perfectly normal in Maryland. Everywhere else, though.
