Let the games begin! I've re-posted my birthday limericks to Mary, followed by her FABULOUS response. Then a new one of mine . . . and here's what I envision: Limericks on any subject under the sun, hence the title of this thread. Doesn't have to be BJ, just any old subject that amuses and inspires. Limericks are easy and addictive, so why not have a new run at an old fave? Let's have some fun here! ;D

Great cake, mlm. Quickly, before the flickering power goes off . . . . To celebrate rducasey’s birthday, we’re dead smack in the middle of a big old Nor’easter of a rainstorm. (Thank heavens it’s not snow. ) The wind is wuthering ‘round the house (shades of The Secret Garden), the trees are bending in frightening arcs (oh please just stay off my little car!) and so what else to do but cook dinner before the power goes off and write limericks? Works for me. Mary, this one's for you, and may the games begin! (New thread, anyone???) It’s Saint Paddy’s Day once again Even though in a downpouring rain. But will that stop Mary? Our Dame not contrary? No, she’ll march with a smile though in pain. ;D
So here’s to soda bread and beer And to Saint Pat we give a loud cheer! Are we Irish like Dunbar? Well, I wouldn’t go that far . . . . But thanks to Jim we’re all still here.
‘Cause of Jimmy and Karen and Marty It’s really been one smokin’ party. Five years to the day — What else can I say? — Nothing rhymes here but . . . Billy Barty?
‘member him in The Lollipop Guild? — A role he so perfectly filled. Great roles need great actors And some unknown factors Plus a resume on which to build.
Which brings us to Ron, our main man And to Bochco, who had a great plan. Thirteen eps — all we got — But Lord! Ron was hot. Enough to make all here a fan.
In five years or ten, maybe more We’ll look back on these days of yore. To the future we go! Let’s misquote E. A. Poe — Forget Blind Justice? Nevermore! Now, Mary me darlin', it's your turn.

When you Copy/Paste a post it comes up under your avatar. But we all know this is the genius of rducasey!!!
Oh Maggie you shamed me into it! If I don't play you'll have a fit- So I'll wrack my brain, While listening to the rain, To come up with a rhyme with some Irish wit!
Our fella has gone to the ends of the earth After bringing us years of laughter and mirth. A new series would be nice With some sizzle and spice! So come out of your hole Ron and show us your worth.
Can you even imagine if he had a big hit? We got 40,000 posts from his last little bit. A doctor, a teacher A cowpoke, or Preacher.... We're not very fussy, call your agent, don't quit!
We're not getting younger, and you are not either So it's time to come out of your hole for a breather Say yes to a role That's serious or drole But Dancing with the Stars is not one of them either.

Mary, that was a hoot -- this one's for you. I'm feeling all fuzzy and warm Cuz rducasey's in rare form. Limericks thick and fast -- How long can this last? -- Well . . . craziness here is the norm. ;D

Haha. Good one. I might give it a go. I have this week off. I need a refresher though. What are the rules for limericks? I know there are some.

Five lines,,,,lines 1,2 and 5 rhyme Lines 3 and 4 rhyme and are generally shorter lines than the other three. That's about it. Give it a go. But with a specific number of accented syllables. It's all about (remember Freshman English?) iambic pentameter. As in: Da- da, da-da- da, da-da- da: Da- da, da-da- da, da-da- da. Da da, da da da, Da da, da da da, Da- da, da-da- da, da-da- da! Classic example and a personal favorite: A tutor who tooted the flute Tried to tutor two tutors to toot. Said the two to the tutor, "Is it harder to toot, or To tutor two tutors to toot?"

Da- da, da-da- da, da-da- da: Da- da, da-da- da, da-da- da. Da da, da da da, Da da, da da da, Da- da, da-da- da, da-da- da! This cracked me up Maggie. Mainly because I started to write ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta........ and I scrapped it, thinking people would think I was nuts! and of course the age old one: There was a young man from Nantucket..........But I'll let that go. P.S. And I sooooooo remember Freshman English...Rhyme scheme A,A,B,B,A and putting the little marks over the syllables to mark the beat, or feet...or the meter....and yes, Iambic pentameter.......you're bringing it all back to me.

Okay, rducasey, You Poetry Queen of Rhode Island . . . now that you're retired and hanging out on the beach with your Kindle, I want you to get your limerick brain back in gear! This one's for you. There was a great lady named Mar' Whose limericks were wondrous and rare. But then she got busy -- Leaving us in a tizzy -- And missing the Blind Dude . . . not fair.
So, are we done here? Oh, please not. We still dig Jim Dunbar, why not? And Karen and Marty, The life of our party . . . The good times are not soon forgot. ;D
Revivals are good, so they say (Well, look at what's playing Broadway). I'm up for more fun When summer is done . . . And I'm feeling nostalgic today! So here's the deal. Major karma for anyone who revives an old analysis thread -- have you read any of them recently? Lots of cool stuff there -- and if rducasey can see her way to more limericks, I will try to FINALLY finish the last chapter of "Again!" Seriously.

Bribery will get you anywhere won't it--especially when it comes to Jimmy.
