I'm curious. Has anyone here joined Second Life? I have been reading lots of news stories about it lately and have poked around the site's help files and about files as a guest.
From what I can see, it certainly seems capitalistic. Your second life looks just like this life--you buy property, build things, etc. There is money galore on this site. Many companies have bought into the site, you can live in the same commercial space there as in real life. Sweden apparently has even opened an embassy!
Again, I haven't joined, but I still have an opinion. Why bother joining--it is just like this life. I'm not sure if there is a way to be non commercial on that site, or be a hermit or monk or something, but it doesn't seem like it.

I heard about it today. I'll check it out to see if it is "visually-impaired" friendly.
If you join, let me know what you think.
and how is things up your way?
Later, Carl

I've heard of something like it, not sure if it's the same community as the one you're talking about though. I had heard of people making a lot of money 'living' in it and 'working/conducting business'. Interesting concept.
