Something very weird happened last night. I was flipping channels and I came across the show "Clean House" on the Style channel. I wouldn't have watched, but...I knew the people on the show! They were identical twins in their twenties still living with their sloppy dad and dad's new girlfriend wouldn't move in because the place was such a mess.
The twins went to Granada Hills High School, which is where I used to interpret. They graduated in 2000, which was my first year interpreting at their school. Both of them have a hearing loss, but Hutton was far more Deaf and all his friends were the other Deaf students in our program while Leland didn't need our services much so I didn't get a chance to know him as well. They were nice kids. I wasn't Hutton's interpreter because he really didn't need one much, but he was always around and was a favorite of mine. It cracked me up to see them on TV, still living at home and sharing a bedroom--with bunk beds in it! Their clutter was appalling, as was their facial hair, but they were still so much as I remembered them. Seeing them on TV last night made me miss them. The last time I saw Hutton, he was visiting the high school and he gave me a big hug when he saw me. I really liked that kid.

My favorite is "How Clean is your House" on the WE channel. "Clean Sweep" on TLC is a close second. I think I like them so much because watching them makes me feel like less of a slacker in my own housekeeping.

For those of us who have been to NYC and love it...this might be worth watching on the History Channel this Monday at 9:00 p.m.
Cities Of The Underworld : New York: Secret Societies Airs on Monday March 31 09:00 PM
Today, New York is the biggest city in the country... but it's got some dark secrets in its past. It was founded by covert groups, overrun with gangs and mob bosses, and ruled by secret societies. This is the true foundation of the city that never sleeps, and host Don Wildman is headed deep beneath the skyscrapers, taxicabs and street vendors into a New York that few have ever seen before. From a hidden Freemason tunnel and secret world of the Sandhogs, to mobster hideaways and gang escape routes, we're uncovering the secret societies that built New York--from the underground up.
