Sure a cop can return to the force after time in the big house, absolutely. And I'm the Queen of Spain.

Close to Home has been cancelled. Sorry, Hoosier! Another one bites the dust I tried to find something on Life but all I found was that he was supposed to be wrongly imprisoned for twelve years. Didn't say for what or how. Guess they want you to watch. Wonder what role Reno Williams is playing? His new partner?

Fox has a new series on Tuesdays called "New Amsterdam" about a NY homicide detective who is immortal The lead is played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau a Danish actor who also was in Black Hawk Down with RE ;D With no "Demons" around I might give this a chance, I guess immortality is more believable that a priest doing exorcisms - Chris

I, too, was disappointed by the cancellation of Jericho. I suspect its long hiatus was a big factor in its demise. There definitely were a lot of questions left unanswered. I can't say I'm excited about anything I've heard so far about the new shows which were picked up for the fall season. Like doobrah, I'll probably check out Life. Damian Lewis was marvelous as "Soames" in The Forsyte Saga, and Reno Wilson ("Tom Selway") is also in it. But the premise of a cop going back on the force after doing prison time is even more far-fetched than -- a blind detective. I also liked "Jericho." There is a campaign to get it back, if you're interested go to the CBS "Jericho" board. I donated toward an ad, and sent a small package of nuts to CBS. There are people who have more money than I, who have sent pounds of nuts. CBS in NY got a half ton of nuts today. They will get more tomorrow. Don't know if anything will help, but it's something to try, and it's kind of fun. EGW

Thanks for this information.

Sure a cop can return to the force after time in the big house, absolutely. And I'm the Queen of Spain. But darling, you are the Queen of Spain. Heh. I seem to remember that the set-up for The Rockford Files was that Jim Rockford had been wrongfully imprisoned, was pardoned, and became a private eye when he was released. But he hadn't been a cop . . . and what cop would last in prison, anyway? Compared to vampires and silly back stories, a blind cop just doesn't seem all that nutty! BTW, I like the idea of sending nuts to CBS for their cancellation of Jericho. We should have sent dark glasses to ABC for their lack of vision.

Is sending nuts really the way to go? I don't know that insulting the network, saying "you're nuts" is the way to get what you want.
I do like maggie's idea with the dark glasses though. That would have been neat.

I don't know if it was the nuts, but apparently CBS got the message (not that it means they're changing their decision). I read about this in the morning paper and found the following at the CBS web site: I still think it was hypocritical of CBS to say the show wasn't performing in the ratings, when it was their own ill-advised scheduling of a long hiatus that caused the problem.

That's good to know about Jericho MLM. Sounds like a TV movie will be in the offing!

It may have been highly hypocritical to say that Jericho lost its following after putting the show on an extended haitus. But, what surprises me is that CBS responded to its viewers with something, an answer of some sort to their inquiries and their emails. That's much more than we ever received from ABC in the case of Blind Justice. Letters, petition copies, phone calls and emails all went unanswered - absolutely no response from anyone at any level - not only to those efforts to try to save the show (which we know, in the words of Ron Eldard, were moot to begin with) but also in the case of its release on DVD. It seems to me that CBS at least has the sense to let their viewers know they are listening.

Well, Lori, now you know why my brother is counting the days until he retires from ABC after over thirty long years of loyalty; in the "behind th scenes" area (so to speak) more than half of the creative team have been let go over the recent years, leaving lots to fall on him, the writer of AMC herself, gone and now someone who can't even find two coherent sentences with a flashlight is writing the show. His retirement is literally around the corner.
