I think it has been mentioned on here before in passing, but this deserves its own thread. Have people seen Longstreet? It's similar to BJ as it's about a blind private investigator. It's also similar in that it only lasted one season. I just watched the Pilot last night, and wow. It may be over 30 years old, but this show has held up well. The Pilot has many of the things we wish we had seen in BJ--his initial blindness and rehab. It also has a very handsome blond dude as the lead. So far I am LOVING this show!

I haven't seen it since it initially aired many many moons ago. That is another show that has yet to find its way onto dvds. One day *sigh* It was great to see that they did show Longstreet's rehab etc. and , if I remember correctly, he faced several of the same problems as Jim Dunbar is getting people to believe that he could do his job. And I remember that they failed to show the last episode in my area! Something else in common with BJ!

I That is another show that has yet to find its way onto dvds. One day *sigh* Well, let's hope that will be rectified soon. Fingers crossed! Bad luck, no final episode in your area. What is with shows about blind cops/detectives? I think they are jinxed.

Longstreet is my avatar.
It was a short-lived show. I have a couple of episodes from the series.
When and where are the episodes being shown?
Later, Carl

When and where are the episodes being shown? I don't think they are being aired, unfortunately, although they were on the air a couple of years ago in Canada. I was able to get a hold of them another way.

I have been watching Longstreet for the last couple of days. Cosidering that it was made many years ago, it is both cheesy and interesting. The writing was much less complicated than the dramas of today but it was still entertaining. I actually like the character of Mike Longstreet. Sometimes it is rather comical the way he reacts to things. I am glad that Ron Eldard played Jim Dunbar a little bit more subtle. There are some similarities though. I like the fact that Longstreet uses proper commands for his guide dog and I also like how he is portrayed using his cane quite a bit more. He leaves his dog at home rather than in a car which is better too. Jim Dunbar will always be my favorite "Blind blond dude" but Longstreet is my second fav.

It's funny you mention the dog, because I have been noticing Pax too. It seems to me that Mike seems to lead Pax, not the other way around! I think the dog needs a bit more training. There are a couple of times when he almost runs Mike into things. Also, most of the times he seems to be behind Mike, not beside or slightly in front of him. I'm sure he wasn't a real guide dog, but if they could train Hank, you'd think they could have trained Pax better. Maybe that's why he uses the cane so much--doesn't trust Pax! (I've only watched 3 episodes and it's still very noticeable!) And dare I say it? I'm not sure, but I think Ross Tanner may be my favorite blind dude. I think it's the stage he's in, still going blind. He is so troubled and full of angst! Or maybe it's just that I just finished seeing it, and so it's fresh in my mind. Plus the fact that Clive Owen is one of my favorite actors. Or all of the above. Who knows.

One day *sigh* Just thought you would like to know that I have found a site that is selling all 24 episodes of Longstreet on DVD. Don't know how legit they are, but they also have a lot of other classic shows I haven't seen in years. If your interested go to www.dvdavenue.tv and click on the Action tab on the left. Longstreet is somewhere close to the bottom.

But great you found a site for it. It's not easy to find.

If they aren't available here yet, you wonder how they came across them?? BJO, don't sweat it. Whenever you have the time is okay. You had to get ready for school so you had other ,more important, things on your mind!

Well, I ordered Longstreet series from them on 10th of September, and I got it on 15th of September. At least the most of it One DVD of the twelwe was duplicated, and there was just one episode on another. That way three episodes are missing. The first three - most annoyingly because the Pilot is an important one. I wrote them the very day. And we made a long, nice lettering back and forth. They apoligized, made promises, then didn't answer just when I was a bit harder, and lastly in one time (in the same minute) two email (they have no contact with each other?!). One of them: "you didn't receive, sorry, see on the canadian post homepage this and this number" - which was the old, first number of delivering... The other: there is blacklog in Longstreet series but when they would have the new stock they would immediately send to me ... of course. It was two weeks ago. I am a little annoyed. OK, not just little. Would somebody in Canada knock their head? Seriously: what do you think I can do in this case?Anyway, I love the series, Mike is nice, pleasant and very attractive, the story is exiting and mostly belivable, the other characters are likeable - I like especially Mrs. Kingston the housekeeper. I have watched already the episodes I have and I long for seeing those first three Fortunatelly I have a big advantage - I find new things if I watch an episode once more - because I can read well in English but poorly understand the spoken language, and there isn't subtitle on it. But because I want to know what they speak on the screen I listen and understand better and better There are a lot of similarity with BJ in some themes. Getting lost, the prison, contact with the little boy, stigmas on nice, young woman, witnessing a crime and be not able catch the criminal right then and there was more that I can't drow from my mind now. I wonder the writers of BJ might see that and copy. There is not new under the Sun. I would like to write lastly now there is a thing I like very much in Mike's character: he can afford himself to make mistakes - little, funny mistakes - and can move through on them almost immediately, with humor, and somewhat gracefully. As for what you can do, I have no idea. I have never bought online so have never dealt with this sort of thing. I'm so sorry this site is Canadian. Trust me, most of us in this country are pretty good--don't let it put you off Canada and Canadians!

I don't have any ideas either. I buy online all the time and have never had any trouble, but I've never bought from a site like that. I hope they make it right and I'm sorry they are Canadian too. If Inuvk or I think of anything, we'll be sure to let you know.
