Okay you guys. I have to admit that I rewound the DVD more than a few times to re-watch Jim going after that punching bag. *Sigh* What a "guy-like" thing to do. I did the same thing with the "whacking the perp with his cane" scene. The way that Jim stood over the guy and yelled at him to "shut up!" was so...*blushes*... hot. Now I've said it. Please tell me I'm not a freak. I don't like violence in real life... Maybe this should go under "guilty pleasures". I have watched all the fight scenes numerous time. What about him punching Doyle? Those were beautiful punches with a beautiful stance. Or when he throws the guy several times in the pilot? Ohh, I get shivers just picturing him in that judo jacket! Then to see the throws and watching him tap out, be still my heart! Finally, that choke in Under the Gun, beautiful choke hold, done perfectly. Ahhh! I am not a violent person either (no, really I'm not), but good fighting, well executed, is almost like watching a dance. It is just a sight to behold. RE is obviously a trained boxer and martial artist.

RE is obviously a trained boxer and martial artist. That choke hold's a common one used by cops. But I assume they get a variety of training in hand-to-hand techniques. Kyt

Kyt If I remember correctly the LAPD banned that choke hold several years ago because it is so dangerous. Does that sound right to you? It is a wonderful hold, easy to do and lethal. Ok, "wonderful" might not be the best word to describe it, maybe "useful."

If I remember correctly the LAPD banned that choke hold several years ago because it is so dangerous. Does that sound right to you? I think it was modified to be less lethal. So yeah, one variation is not okay to use, another one is. I always find it interesting how the cops are limited and the thugs aren't, and then the cops get sued for taking action or not taking action: take your pick. Kyt

Cops, teachers, nurses, interpreters (Shmeep enlightened me on this one), ridiculously undervalued, underpaid, and under respected.
well.. being a health care professional that is not a nurse,, ( a respiratory therapist ) we are way down on the scale of value,, w/ the bottom feeders,, until someone starts going bad,, then we're the first ones called been here 16 yrs,, and new grad nurses that haven't even taken their national boards (as i have had to in my field ) start at a salary higher than i am making now,, jeez,,, absolutely the truth

Oh Dogma, that is so sad.
I'm with all of you. I am also a non violent person, but can't resist those little moments when Jim punches that bag, or whacks with the cane, does the choke hold or hits someone. Ron is a beautiful fighter.

Oh that speed bag scene, I bet I hold the record for re-watching it. Love the look on Karen's face, and thanks House for your support of teachers.

...and thanks House for your support of teachers. And interpreters! (Although I feel the interpreter love much more out here in DC than I did in LA.)

I have to say it is one my pet peeves when valuable, indispensable jobs aren't respected. It is so nice that someone recognizes your hard work. BTW, I didn't know you did animal rescue! Do you have your own rescue? What kinds of animals?

< <BTW, I didn't know you did animal rescue! Do you have your own rescue? What kinds of animals?
>> i have been majorly involved in a very small, animal rescue, totally volunteer and non profit for 7 + yrs (board member and devil's advocate ) we can't take any pets from homes ( moving, divorce, allergies ) we take the dogs running the streets, limping, starved, tied to fences in fields during blizzards, too many horrific stories,, and cats thrown in dumpsters, dumped on a doorstep in a box with newborn kittens,,laying on the side of the road hit by a car,,, don't get me started,, we get them the necessary emergency care, vaccinate them, worm them, neuter them, and they are in foster homes as a family member until adopted, never euthanize,, unless it is a severe unrepairable health issue ,or temperament ( every few yrs,, a totally vicious dog ),, my husband and i have personally fostered over 85 dogs over the yrs, i am considered the "critical care" person,, as i was a vet tech in the 70's and 80's,, i have kept dogs for weeks, that need iv fluids, injections, daily dressing changed ( mangled leg, hit by car,, ) our adoption fee is $65.00,, so we rely heavily on donations, since we sometimes put 100's of $ into certain pets,, our vet bills are over $5000.00 / month ( we get a very minimal 20% discount ) off my soapbox,, it is my mission on earth to do as much as i can,, at work,, most people know i am the animal person, even security calls me when they find a dog wandering around
