We've done a lot of rating and ranking on this board, and it's always great fun. Favorite episodes, favorite episode endings, favorite lines of dialogue. This one is going to be tough. If you had to choose a favorite single scene, which one would it be? Jim and Karen on the street at the end of The Pilot? Jim and Christie after the dinner party from Hell? Marty and Jim's "Seoul Man" face-off in the locker room? Galloway pronounces Jim fit for duty? Jim lets loose on Warren Doyle, or the speed bag? The boys of the squad finally share a beer? The joyous reunion with Hank? Jim and Christie dance off into the sunset a la Fred and Ginger? So many choices. I'll start the ball rolling. My all-time favorite Blind Justice scene? Jim and Terry at the river. The perfect trifecta of sensitive acting, strong writing, and sharp directing. The simmering anger held in check, and the overwhelming sense of loss and finality. It just plain knocks me out, every time. It will never get old.

That's tough -- but what comes to mind for me ... oh dear, another fave scene just snuck in ...
#1) "I need you ... like the flower needs the rain" -- Jim has been trying to get back on good terms with Karen, and it all comes to a head in the locker room. Followed by Jim getting hammered by Christie when he realizes he forgot to call her about Boston... followed by that glorious little moment with Jim at the bedroom door trying to get back into Christie's good graces. Aaaah , such angst!
And a close second: Jim having a great day reminiscing with his old Army buddy. A series of scenes where Jim is happy and smiling, for a change.

My favorite scene would have to be in the Pilot where Karen offers to guide Jim for the first time.
After being pointed in the right direction by maggie I found that there is not a good screencap of that scene anyway. Oh well.

Hey, that's great but you're cheating! That's three scenes! That's what makes this game so hard -- you have to . . . gulp . . . choose one. Oooh, I am such a meanie. LOL and I hope you know I'm kidding! ;D

My favorite scene would have to be in the Pilot where Karen offers to guide Jim for the first time. I was going to add a screencap of it but, I don't know where to find them. Can somebody point me in that direction? I love that scene, too -- it's the first time they start to trust and rely on each other. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be screencaps of that scene in full, just one where Jim gets out of the car. We have it in our beyondjustice Photobucket album. There's good advice on how to use the caps, and the link, in the Screencaps thread under Announcements, courtesy of Shmeep's hard work. Here you go!

I have to go with maggie's choice: Jim and Terry by the river in "Up on the Roof." Just an amazing, powerful scene, and so important in the overall story of Jim's journey. Since my choice is already "taken," I'm going to give an "honorable mention" to a very nice moment in "Marlon's Brando" (which has many good moments). It takes place after Jim and Karen return to the squad after Condell's suicide. Jim talks to Karen, in a very quiet and undemanding way. He lets her know he's experienced the same kind of event in the past, and he gets her to talk about the incident. Just a very nice and touching moment, when Jim fulfills his promise to Karen in the Pilot: to be a good partner to her.

I cast my vote for the speed bag scene. (55 punches.....sigh). Jim uses the opportunity for a little macho showing off, and didn't Karen love it! The looks on both Jim and Karen's faces as they walk away is priceless.

There are so many! If I had to pick a humerous one, I think it would have to be the opening of Dance with me. (I think). Jim discovers Tom is black for the first time. "How could you not feel my blackness?" "I just thought you were kinda groovy." And then the little grin as Jim walks away. I've seen that who knows how many times and it kills me every time. Here are some screencaps of the scene where Karen offers to guide Jim for the first time. I really can't narrow down a serious one right now. Dogggone gets me every time because Jim seems so vulnerable in that one.

That smile at the end of Marlon's Brando. I couldn't find a screencap, but "You're my man and you still got the gun."
Ahh... (Mouse shivers slightly).

I haven't decided on a favorite scene yet, but this is for Mouse: May the smile of Jim Dunbar sustain you through out your visitation! (Oh my gosh! I just realized...we're in a cult!)

Great thread topic!
My favorite episode is Doggone, but actually my favorite scene is from Dance With Me. It is when Pete and Jim are sitting in Jim's living room, and Jim gives his lecture to Pete. Then Pete breaks down and asks if Jim ever feels like killing himself (paraphrasing). Then Jim opens up, says yes but Christie pulled him through, Pete says but he doesn't have a wife and really gets sad. Just very moving, two people who are nearly strangers opening up to each other. The emotions on Pete's face are very good acting.
And of course, in a nod to Doggone--second favorite scene is definitely Jim at the water cooler. Also like the camera pulling back when Jim is lost and we see the desolate area he is lost in. Basically, love the whole episode!

Also, just had to say---I love the way no one is saying "When they found the body", or " When they broke the case" etc. We know why we love this show, and it's not the cases! No, it's the great character development!

Talk about a herculean task to chose just one scene--couldnt make it easy on us and have a favorite scene for each ep noooo! If I have to chose, I will go with Jim crashing over the table at Johnny in Doggone. Jim is always so in control of his emotions while on the job and here they boil over as he goes for Johnny's throat to make him tell him where Hank is. Marty, usually the hot-headed part of the squad, has to get Jim under control and drag him out of the room. Jim may have gone into the room as Ted the Drug Dealer but that was definitely Jim Dunbar who went over the table. Pretty powerful scene in my opinion!

I was hoping someone else would go for Jim and Terry at the river. That said, I also love the scene in "Marlon's Brando," for the dialogue and for the rapport between Jim and Karen. Almost as much as I love the ensuing scene with Galloway when Jim finally opens up to his doubts and fears and we get that gorgeous, sensitive close-up . . . . . . but if Jim and Terry at the river is really your favorite, all I can say is "Amen."

Can I change my mind? After returning home from school and having a chance to watch an episode besides the pilot I realized there is a scene I like better: In Under the Gun where Karen tells Jim that she will still partener with him if he stops carrying the gun. I think that is the sweetest scene in all of Blind Justice. So thats my final answer, unless I change my mind again.
