So tonight I met Mary and Kathy in my faire city! I just got in, actually. They went to see Mama Mia, I actually plan to go with my husband later this year. To start with, I met them at the theatre and, of course, took them to the stage door. Now, my husband doesn't "stage door" but I do, it's fun! So.....Kathy got me a playbill and I lied to the cast of Mama Mia. Yep, I did. They signed my playbill and I told them how wonderful they were and I can't WAIT to see it again. Turns out, three of the actors were from .... QUEENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, of course, that turned out to be yet another conversation of "do you know where...." and "remember that place on Steinway...." - way too cool!!!! Then we traveled uptown to get the the best cookies in NYC, and went on to have dinner at Hurley's. Ahh....memories....... But wait! What's going on at the Longacre? Why, it's premier night for the opening of Talk Radio! And there we were in the middle of the mayhem, standing inches from Chris Noth (LOVE HIM - HOTNESS!!!), Chris Meloni, Mariksa Hagerty, Richard Belzer, Alan Alda, Naomi Watts and several other actors from Law and Order as the playwright is from the show, as well. (My favorite show!!!) One never knows what or whom you may run into in New York, I've said that a hundred times over ... and I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world!!!!!!!!!!!! What a ride it is, really and truly. As usual, I had a BLAST with Mary and Kathy - the only missing piece to our puzzle was Lori, but she'll be in soon, I just know it!!!! I love when they come to NYC; sure there's so much to see, but this part of it, and sharing it with them, makes it all worthwhile!!!!!!! Great, GREAT day!!!!!!!

That sounds like a lot of fun! They went to see Mama Mia, I actually plan to go with my husband later this year. And I'd love comments on Mama Mia from those who saw it. My friend, Mary Mossberg, is touring with the Broadway touring production of Mama Mia right now. She's the one in Yellow. I don't know any of the characters, but I believe she's Donna. And here I am, standing between Mary and her college boyfriend (but now very good friend) Joe on Thanksgiving. Joe is my brother's best friend and Mary and a couple of other California transplants have thanksgiving with him in New Jersey every year.

Oh, holy cow, we had a blast - I'm on my way back right now.
Wait? Your friend is in Mama Mia (nice pic!) and you haven't seen it, or have you?

Wait? Your friend is in Mama Mia (nice pic!) and you haven't seen it, or have you? Nope. Haven't seen it. She's touring all over the country and so far she hasn't made it to DC. I would love to be able to catch one of her performances. I've never seen her in anything and Mama Mia is her first really big break. She almost made it into The Woman in White when it first came to NYC. She made it to the final cut and then auditioned for the part of Miriam--right in front of Andrew Lloyd Webber! But she didn't get it (although she was honored to have been able to sing for ALW).

Barb has recounted it quite aptly! Mamma Mia was sooooo much fun and stage door-ing there with Barb was a riot. It is always so much fun to get together and reminisce about our Doubt experiences! And what a treat to be at a Broadway Premiere to top the evening off! There is always something going on in the City and a real treat to be there, especially with Barb and Mary. Next time, Lori...!

Hey, I'm home now too. What fun we had. Mamma Mia was great! Oh Shmeep, I hope you see it soon especially with your friend in it. Their parts, the two friends who used to sing with the brides mother and come for the wedding are the most fun. They are a scream. (Oh wait she may be the Bride's mother if she is Donna. That is a wonderful part and the girl on Broadway was outstanding.) The singing and dancing is fabulous and we had third row seats! Meeting Barb at the stage door and then on to Dinner at Hurley's, just across the street from the infamous Walter Kerr, where Kathy and I- earlier in the day, had a moment of silence. While sitting in a window seat we noticed a lot of commotion at the theatre directly across the street and the man at the next table filled us in that it was opening night for Talk Radio, and soon we joined all the excitement outside, as the guests arrived on the red carpet. Leave it to Barb to have us right in the thick of things. (Some woman in the crowd even put Barb on her cell phone to tell her friend back home who was arriving. Barb had no idea who she was giving an eye witness description to.) Then a walk in Times Square capped off the evening. Just lots of laughs and fun filled the weekend. I love NY. Thanks again Kathy and Barb, it was memorable, and a year to the day we were there for Ron made it a bit bittersweet, but fun most of all.

And thanks for taking some time out of your laughter and galavanting to give me a shout from Hurleys last night, which, they discovered, has an upstairs! (Where was that piece of information back in January when we were all crowded around a small round table in the misbegotten back corner?)
I am glad to know that you survived the City and it survived the three of you - that should have more than prepared it for the occasion when we can finally do what we have been waiting so long for!
As to the premiere of Talk Radio, talk about being at the right place at the right time - nothing like some hobnobbing to end what had to be an absolutely wonderful day!
Am I jealous? Who me? No! What you don't believe me? Alright, alright, I'll admit it....yes, I am just a little.....alright a lot!

(Where was that piece of information back in January when we were all crowded around a small round table in the misbegotten back corner?) From now on, that second floor window table (for four, I might add) is reserved for us! I hope that will happen soon! Really, I thought Barbara had arranged the entire event! I thought she had gotten the paparazzi there to record our little reunion! However, we soon realized what was really going on. We adjourned to the pavement outside the stage door of the WK where we could observe all the celebrity arrivals at the Longacre. Imagine our surprise when suddenly we saw a familiar looking redhead across the street trying to snap a picture of Chris Noth! Wasn't she just standing beside me? ? You were there in spirit, Lori!

Here's Kathy, Mary and Barb. (as if you didn't know the redhead was Barb.) at Hurley's on 48th, just moments before we discovered the excitement at the theatre next door. Notice my "fie dolla" burberry from Canal St on the table. Talk about luck, there is a Noreaster blowing through here this weekend. We really lucked out with beautiful weather last week.
