(what kind of grown man goes by "Scooter"--even if he's not working in the White House?) This, however, is a very good point. Matilda

Really seriously, I don't think anyone outside the U.S. blames ordinary, decent American people for W, I really don't. Neither do I. We all know what went on with the elections and we've all had governments we didn't approve of. Trust me, our Prime Minister is no saint either and one of his strongest allies is the "Danish Peoples Party". They are absolutely disgusting, racist, opportuninstic and just plain gross - don't count me in as one of the "Danish People" they are supposed to represent So like Matilda said, we certainly don't blame any ordinary, decent American people for Bush's actions, that's on him. Take care and keep smiling - Chris

The second election? The "Swift Boat" nonsense, a propaganda campaign of which Joseph Goebbels would have been proud, a media blitz in which John Kerry, a thrice-decorated war hero, was portrayed as a duplicitous traitor. And, God help us, there were any number of ignorant souls in this country who believed it. Not that the votes were accurately counted that time, either. Ohio, anyone? Now Maggie, don't forget Bush's "little black dress" also known as September 11th. He whipped that out so many times during the election I lost count. His strategy was to keep as many people as possible as terrified as possible and make them believe he was the only one to fix it. To hear The Shrub tell it that traitor Kerry would fix the situation by selling the US to bin laden. And now, as I go to bed, to top it all off there's been two overseas-born (guess where?) doctors who were living in Queensland arrested for supected terrorist activities. They allegedly have a connection to Bin Laden and the people responsible for the London bombing. The fear-mongering as we go into the Federal election will be stupendous. Anyway there you go - another day in paradise. Hope you all have a better day than we have had! Matilda

Count me among those embarrassed to admit this man is our president. Count me in, too. One of the radio commentators I listen to sometimes refers to "the Bush crime family" -- which got me thinking. Having the Shrub as President is kind of like having Fredo in charge of the Corleone family. Karma for the Godfather comparison. Brilliant -just brilliant.

You know, sometimes I wonder, what is he thinking? Assuming that he does think?? But surely he must have advisors who should tell him what's the right thing to do and what's not - but I guess that doesn't matter if he won't listen... You've kept him around for seven years, someone please tell me that he has done something good and wise too. please?? - Chris This is the worst 7 years I can ever remember, to be perfectly honest. I'm embarrassed by the majority of this country who let this yutz back in. I don't normally jump in heavily to political discussions because, in truth, I don't understand much of what's really going on, but I'll say this - 2008 can't come fast enough.

I am still laughing at the Fredo line. Mouse is right -- that is absolutely brilliant, and more than karma-worthy!

Mind if I jump in here--what did he do? I had read that his sentence was commuted, but I'm not sure what he did in the first place.

Mind if I jump in here--what did he do? I had read that his sentence was commuted, but I'm not sure what he did in the first place. He was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice in the investigation of the leak of the identity of a CIA operative, Valerie Plame. The leak is widely believed to have been White House payback for the disclosure of the Bush Administration's lies in the lead-up to the Iraq war by Plame's husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson. It is also widely believed that Libby "took the fall" for higher-ups such as Dick Cheney and Bush's chief political operative, Karl Rove. Karma to shmeep for the vision of the White House as Mount Doom and D.C. as Mordor. So if the Shrub is Sauron, then that makes Cheney the head Nazgul and Rove the "Mouth of Sauron" -- right?
