What a peaceful picture - and I'd love to be out there on an innertube with a tall, cold Mai Tai in my hand! I had the most awesome opportunity to live in Banff, Alberta (in the winter!) and had to share what I consider one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Canada - Lake Louise. I don't what's my favorite - summer... or winter...

I had the most awesome opportunity to live in Banff, Alberta (in the winter!) and had to share what I consider one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Canada - Lake Louise. I don't what's my favorite - summer... or winter... I wanted to see these again. Thanks so much for these LL! Southern Alberta is my favorite area of Canada too. Here's another one from southern AB, these are some of the hoodos from Drumheller. These are formed when the rock on top is harder than the rock below, often sandstone. It erodes the base but not the lid. CBC is running another "greatest" contest. They have done the greatest Canadian, greatest invention, and others. Now they are doing the greatest 7 wonders of Canada. You can submit nominations and cast a vote here: www.cbc.ca/sevenwonders/

I am definitely going to have give that some thought - I think Canada has some of the most incredible scenery! And not only do I love that photo of the hoodos, but I love that name too!

My "picture of the day" for Thursday is this: It's the Torrey Pines State Reserve, with its spectacular canyons and bluffs. And from the bluffs you can see the beach below, where you can sometimes watch dolphins "surfing" in the waves and, farther out, catch a glimpse of a migrating whale at certain times of the year.

Southern AB has a very dry, desert-like climate, much like the US Southwest. What Drumheller mainly is famous for dinosaurs. It's one of the "hotspots" in the world for finding complete specimens. Here are some more pics of hoodoos: www.virtuallydrumheller.com/tour/hoodoos.htm

I saw on TV today that one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts died recently, so I thought I would post a picture of them. Five of the seven are now deceased.

We don't have the spectacular landscapes you do, with beautiful mountains and canyons, but we do have this: Take care and keep smiling - Chris
