In case any of you are interested, I just posted "The Search" over at Fanfiction.net. It's my take on the scene we never got to see between Marty and Jim when Hank is missing and Marty offers to help Jim look for him. www.fanfiction.net/s/2542081/1/

I am really blown away by how good it is. I will leave you a review on fanfic, but just wanted to let you know how it moved me. It is so in tune with the whole series. We all wished we had seen what happened when Jim and Marty went looking for Hank. Now we know. Powerful!

It's excellent, shmeep -- thanks! I especially like the way you've written Marty in this account -- it's entirely consistent with how I think he would have acted. I also like the way you tie in the unresolved issues with Christie from the morning. Now that I think of it, that problem must have been on Jim's mind all day, along with everything else he had to deal with.

I just fiinished reading your fanfic shmeep, and it is great. I love that it was true to the characters as they appear on the show. I also love how you had it take place in the middle of an episode, very cool choice. Thanks for sharing!

What can I say except thank you?! You really got it right, the setting, the backstory, and especially the psychology of the whole situation. And your way with dialogue is just plain terrific. I could "see" the characters speaking the lines as I was reading along, and Marty's awkwardness and curiosity are so on point. And of course I loved the funny little touches, like Jim finally figuring out Marty's physique, and how . . . but I won't be a spoiler! Hope everyone reads this and enjoys it as much as I did. Fantastic job!

:oJust got back from a weekend in the mountains (without internet I might add) and found The Search -- since we had just talked it about it last week, I didn't expect to find it posted so soon.
But it's awesome Shmeep! Excellent job of taking another one of the scenes we wish had been shown and giving it to us in great BJ style. Extremely well written - the characters are brought right back to life - it's a perfect continuation and compliment to the actual episode. (And I love how you gave Marty some vulnerability - superb!)
You say you're an aspiring writer - if these two fan fics are any indication of what you are capable of, I say you're already there!

Very nice infill for where the show left us hanging. I like knowing what happened in between the lines. Great job of doing just that! Thanks!

Wow shmeep... great stuff!!! You nailed this entirely. It's exactly the way Jim and Marty would have interracted in that situation. And we were so longing for a glimpse at that scene! Thanks for providing it. Keep writing sweetie...you're great at this! -Myra
