"Author’s Note: I’ve been watching Ranma ½ lately, and for absolutely no reason, there have been several episodes entitled “A Ghost Story.” I thought it would be fun to try my hand at it as well. For absolutely no reason. The story has no bearing on the plot of Blind Justice, and probably won’t help the characters evolve. But every show ends up with a quirky, cheesy Halloween episode eventually, usually in the fifth season, where inexplicable things happen. Ours just came a little early."
That's the author's note I stuck on over at ff.net. Here's hoping this one only lasts five chapters!

Just read this one GB! Quite interesting. I've never read ghost stories (I have enough trouble sleeping as it is) but GB is such a great writer that I just can resist reading it.

If this were a movie, I'd be yelling at the screen, "Don't do it! Don't open that door!"

Interesting having Marty see Jim's perspective. I like when they couldn't figure who got turned around and was going the wrong way and Jim said, "I'm used to walking in the dark" and Marty deferred to him. Thanks GB, this will be good.

Oh GB, I am hanging off the edge of my chair,my eyes are burning as I have not blinked for the last half hour as I read it and reead it again.
The hair on my arms stood up. You really set off my emotions when Jim dreams and then wakes and remembers what he has lost. Pure Genius, thankyou, please sir, canI have some more?
Natascha PS I know it takes time to write briliantly so I will be patient

I'd written most of "Lights Out" a month or two ago, just never glued it all together. So this is not in response to that awful conversation we were having over in The Pilot, but obviously, this proves that at least one part of my brain does think Jim perfectly capable of violence. While not related to that discussion, perhaps my bit in that discussion was related to this. Who knows.

While the crime is certainly intriguing, to put it mildly!, I especially like the Jim and Marty interaction. I also agree that Jim can and will take care of himself, whatever the situation.

This was an awesome chapter that has me trying to figure out what's going on. I love the fact that Marty was 'blind' for a few minutes. I love to see them getting along and yet there's always the old grudges somewhere underneath it all.
And yes, Jim can take care of himself.

Thanks for posting this before you leave. It was great. I always love your stories. Loved the part about Karen thinking she was shot and all the other strange happenings. So many twists and turns in the story. Keeps you thinking.

A rip-roaring finish to a great story. I was actually sad that it did have to end! Thanks for a great read!
