There was a ladybug in my dorm room today! I hate bugs, as in really hate as in terrified of bugs!!! Fortunatly I still had a can of bug spray left from a ladybug attack 2 years ago. So I sprayed and sprayed and now my room smells awful! And when I went to get online earlier, I found that I have to switch to McAffee anti-virus by Novemeber 20th to keep internet access in my dorm. I have Norton right now and I think I had to pay extra to have it put on my computer when I bought the computer. I could really use some advice about this one because I don't know what to think.

So I sprayed and sprayed and now my room smells awful! You need to get over your ladybug thing, darlin'. I HATE bugs, too, but ladybugs are cute, and they're good for the environment -- they eat whole bunches of nasty bugs that are much worse than they are. Plus, ladybugs are traditionally considered good luck and killing them is bad luck. So just ignore them if you can. After all, they are pretty small. And breathing in that bug spray probably isn't any better for you than it is for the bugs.

Last year we had a sudden infestation of ladybugs swarming our balcony. Quite a few of them made it into our condo, but I wouldn't let my husband kill any of them (even though that was his first inclination). I caught them one-by-one in a cup and set them free outside. We found one the other day in the office and my husband immediately went for the cup without even needing to be reminded.
I used to play with ladybugs when I was a kid. But I also used to play with worms, so I guess that doesn't mean much. That's what happens when a girl has a bunch of brothers.

Not only that. they tickle if you put them in the palm of your hand! Hear, hear: Ladybugs are the good ones, nice and clean, too, as bugs go.

I, too, was suckered -- please note my word choice -- into Norton when I bought my new Dell last January. It has been nothing but trouble, doesn't work half the time, fights with the anti-virus protection provided by my ISP, and the only way I could get online was to turn off the firewall, which apparently you really don't need unless you're Norad or the Pentagon. I have a friend with McAfee. She loves it. It's eezy-peezy, no problemo, and doesn't fight with anything already loaded onto her computer. So don't sweat it. Embrace the future! McAfee is good.
