This morning I finished Ghost Ship. I persist in my belief that this is just an awful movie. I can't think of anything I liked about it aside from Mr. Eldard's muscles and that was hardly enough to keep me interested. The plot was goofy, the performances were phoned in, and the movie was just not good.

I have a rant...
Sounds like some sick variation of the I Have a Dream speech!
I'm with you about Ghost Ship, Mouse. Very odd choice for so many talented actors to have made. They seemed a little embarrassed to be doing it at all, I thought.
Even eye candy couldn't save it.

Ghost Ship is just a bad movie with wooden performances.
I read that it was a chance for RE & Julianna Margulies to go do a movie in Australia together. Both of them in separate interiews called it a "popcorn" movie.... sounds like they got the same cheat sheet from the press agent.

Heyheyhey! I liked it well enough to plunk down cash for it.
But the real question is:
Which horror movies do you LIKE that you weigh GHOST SHIP against?

(And welcome, Kyt!!) I'm not a huge fan of that entire genre, but I did like the first Poltergeist movie and--and--wracking my brains here. I know I have liked other horror movies, but they generally don't do much for me. Does Fright Night count??? I know it was also a comedy. I loved that in the 80's. Very fun. Nice to see Prince Humperdink as a Vampire. Point well taken. It's possible that those who don't like this movie are not fans of the entire genre. Oh well, at least they got to see Ron for a bit.

Well, I liked the first two "Omen" movies, "The Fog" -- which has got to be 20 years old now, and the original "Exorcist." Then there's the psychological thrillers like "Dead Zone" and "Dead Again."
I'm not a big horror fan either, but if it's well done, I'm in.

I know I said before that I am not a big fan of horror movies, but here are a couple I did like, Poltergeist, The Dead Zone (is that considered a true horror movie - it is based on a Stephen King novel), and The Shining. You made a good point and honestly I am not sure how it stands up to other horror movies.

Doobrah,
I LOVE Dead Again.
I'll never feel the same about scissors again!

Ok, now I totally get it. JM gets to be the hero. She gets to release all those souls and be the hero. That is why they decided to make the movie.
Oh, and Shmeep's chess avatar reminded me, I think those lovely hands we see in Blind Justice might belong to a hand model. When they showed a close-up of his hand in this movie dare I say, it was horrific! Not an attractive thumb. Am I getting a little carried away bagging on this movie?

There are enough closeups in BJ in Dr. Galloway's office that those are his hands. They wouldn't use a hand model when he's clasping them up around his face . I have noticed that sometimes the veins in his hands (yes, I need a life) stick out more than others... but I attributed that to him working out, making the veins pop out.

You can also get a really good look at RE's hands in "Leap of Faith" when he's examining the window Sam Berglass went out of. That's when I noticed the slightly thickened knuckles and connected it with his days as a boxer. Observant or obsessed? Hmm.
Besides, why use a hand model for a character who is meant to be tough as an old boot? Redhook, the Army, ten years as a cop, where a certain amount of wear and tear would be natural. As Indiana Jones said in Raiders of the Lost Ark, "It's not the years -- it's the mileage."

You are probably right, but his thumb (I need to get a life too Doobrah), in Ghost Ship is just plain ugly. Maybe the rest of his hands are gorgeous, but that thumb - blech!

Don't get going on thumbs. Sensitive subject for me. See, I got Grandma's Norwegian hammer thumbs. The nails are wider than they are long and look like toes. My best friend calls them elephant thumbs. I don't know why, but it seems to fit.
But I particularly noticed that Ron has nice hands in the movie Just a Kiss. It stood out to me in a couple of scenes, but I didn't zero in on the thumbs so who knows?

As a matter of fact opposing thumbs are one of evolution's greatest gifts to man. I was just lamenting the fact that those gorgeous hands we all enjoyed might not belong to RE. I am now convinced we were ogling at his own beautiful digits.

Oh and how great were RE's hands in Fancy Footwork pounding that Speed Bag. sigh............. They could have had him beating that bag for half as long as he danced at the end and it wouldn't have been enough.
