Here's to Housemouse, now in New York City . . . She called me tonight, folks, and we had a wonderful time shrieking and laughing on the phone. I will NOT be a spoiler, but l will tell you all that Our Mouse is having the time of her life. So here's another glass of wheatgrass juice raised to Housemouse on her fabulous birthday!

Oh, can't wait to hear all about it! I bet she's at Nick's club, "Vertigo", right now knocking back a few glasses of wheatgrass juice in celebration of number 40. Hope she doesn't misbehave and end up in that holding cell in the eighth Precinct. "Hey blond dude!"

We had a blast! New York City was exactly the way I expected it to be. We rode the trains (that's what the locals call the subways ;D). We saw Greenwich Village, Battery Park, the Statue of Liberty, MoMA, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Wicked, and every other NYC site you can think of! We walked a lot and my feet still feel like they are going to fall off.
Here is a rundown of our celebrity sightings, sadly it does not include one Ron Eldard. Yesterday we walked down to the Today Show set (we were not on the air), and we saw: Carson Kressley and Thom Felicia (Thom blew me a kiss! Carson waved and said hello) from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Katie Couric (of course), Tracy Chapman, Tiger Woods, and this one's for you Myra - Josh Groban. We also saw Jackie Mason and Tony Bennett walking the streets of Manhattan.
But, with as fabulous as all of that was, here is the highlight of the trip for me. My sister and I were walking through Central Park. As we walked by a fellow playing the saxophone I told my sister "If he starts playing Moon River it will be the ultimate Blind Justice moment." By this time my sister was very tired of my (almost) constant references to Blind Justice and the detectives of the 8th Precinct, she rolled her eyes and we kept walking. Suddenly what do I hear behind me? Yep! You guessed it - Moon River!!!! I nearly sprinted back, tossed a five in his saxophone case, and stood immersed in my ultimate Blind Justice in the NYC moment. I took his picture then floated away to see the rest of the park. Ahhhh...

Does sound like a fabulous trip Mouse - and what a way to celebrate your birthday! I haven't been in New York since I was 18 - so many years ago but I thought the city was absolutely magical then - and I am from a very small town of 3,000 in Ontario. Hope one day to have an opportunity to get reacquainted! Welcome back! LongLashes

Now... the question is, "what will Housemouse do with the Key to the (New York) City," presented to her by hiz honor: Mayor Bloomberg? Later, Carl Maybe I will use it to open the door to Jim and Christie's apartment. Or I could use it to start the bus for the Blind Justice tour. Or maybe I will just give it to that wonderful sax player who serenaded me and provided the perfect Blind Justice moment, he could let himself in to any apartment on the island of Manhattan.

and this one's for you Myra - Josh Groban. Man, I haven't been on the boards in ages (miss you guys) and I just saw this post... HOW COOL IS THAT? Congrats on your birthday (sorry this wish is SOOO late). It sounds like you had an awesome time, and I'm glad you got a glimpse of my Joshy! Made the trip completely worthwhile, didn't it? Every bit as good as seeing RE (I know, I know, I'm gonna get whacked with a white cane for saying that!). Sorry. Anyway...great to see you guys having so much fun. I'll try to check back in sometime when school gives me an hour off or something! Take care, Myra
