The weekend was nice--Saturday morning it was 62 and then the temp went up but only to the low 80's. Same yesterday. They say it will warm up and get humid and then rain is expected about every day so it will undoubtly become even worse. On top of that, one of the air conditioning units at work has gone out so one room is very close and muggy. Some cool air comes in from the other room but when you are running around doing inventory you tend to work up a sweat. Of course, no windows can be opened now so we can't let some fresh air in. I tell myself, just hold on, it will be fixed soon----I hope!

I'm in the minority that loves warm weather. I can't stand having to be bundled up. I wasn't meant to wear that much clothing. It's just too much work. I lived in Georgia for two years and high-tailed it back to Florida. I like cool but not cold. I'm making sure to enjoy the pool as much as possible before it drops back down to the 60s and the bikini has to be put away and the long sleeves come back out. Fortunately that won't be for at least another 2 months. The trade-offs are the hurricanes, but I'm willing to take my chances.

Having grown up where the St. Lawrence River meets the Atlantic Ocean, I am very used to snow, and lots of it! Snow usually began falling around mid to late October and melted around mid to late April. One winter it snowed so much, it was stacked against the side of the house two stories high!
I so loved getting back to the east coast - perhaps not quite as north as I would like as this past winter wasn't really winter, just a piddly amount of snow. Although the west coast is without a doubt beautiful, I just couldn't do it. Nor could I tolerate the Dallas heat. And summers here in Northern VA are just plain gross!
Nope, I'm with Shmeep - for me, snow will never lose it's novelty!

I'm sorry! I just started my new job today, in an absolutely beautiful building, where the air conditioning must surely be misdirected cause I sure didn't feel any!
Then I come home to read all these warm weather posts and I started to feel the heat! I had to find some way to cool down, found myself thinking about my winter in Banff and well, what can I say? It conjured up some snowy images, like this one and all of a sudden it wasn't quite so hot!
Guess I really do have some Nanuck of the North left in me after all.

Apparently our local 24 hour weather station thought that the power of suggestion of things such as this works, too. They played Christmas music all weekend!

Ah, a weather channel after my own heart! But, if a snowy scene seems a little premature, how about snow runoff? While travelling near Golden, British Columbia, in mid July, we happened upon a stream of mountain run-off (not this particular one - this I borrowed from the web - but it was crystal clear and it tumbled it's way down the side of the mountain in a well-carved bed.) The air temperature was in the 90s, no movement at all. My father pulled the car over to the side of the road, and we splashed in water so icy cold that we could only stay in for a matter of seconds! Now that was refreshing!

Never hear of Christmas in July, Barbara? For all you folks who love the heat: Just wait until menopause, baby! You'll have more than you ever dreamed of having!

Well, I'm interviewing and I've had to ride the subway in this heat - I can't even describe to you the heat index in the subway - you can't even breathe!!! Nevermind the walking I had to do, too. I think I lost 10 pounds, I'm not sure - what do you do when you're not sure? Bebe: How about that power outage in Queens? Cold showers, because there is no electricity to heat the water. Walking up and down the stairs instead of taking the elevator. no t.v. (who cares if it's an ABC show) and last, but not least, no AC! That's where the cold showers come in handy. Later, Carl
