One before soccer this morning!
-- Chief Tunney because once Jim admitted he did draw his weapon on the street, you exaggerated it to "a blind man "waving" his gun around".....prompting Jim to have to go on the defensive. And, if it "shouldn't have been out in the first place" why is he carrying it in the first place?
++Walter Clark for keeping his options open to "maybe look around for something part time in security" when he gets back from Ketchekan with the "other dinosaurs" benefting someone with all those years of experience.
++ Detective Tom Selway for being open to the idea that there is much to learn from someone else and recognizing that Jim had things to teach him. "Look what Jim did."

Detective Jim Dunbar++for stressing to Galloway that the reason you were obsessing about the escape of Mr. Lee's murderer was the fact that it was important, the bad guy got away and ,as far as you knew, off to kill someone else. The stakes were that high! Detective Karen Bettencourt++being so matter of fact in helping Jim and not making any big deal about it, examples:throwing away the hand wipe and warning him about the police yellow tape Detective Tom Selway++at least you caught Jeff Dorsey and you didn't even give Marty a hand time about being less than graceful!

Detective Marty Russo--yeah, Jim stated an obvious fact (a soldier never forgets the sound of gunfire) but did you have to lose it and almost go over the desk at him? Christie Dunbar++for accepting Jim's apology and taking that mulligan for the last year after you had already given him a second chance because of his affair Lt. Gary Fisk--I know having a second serial killer in less than a month does tend to throw you a curve but did you have to be so impatient with Jim when he only asked you if it was "another Korean grocer"?

++ Dr. Galloway for reinforcing the fact that what happened at the market was not Jim's fault, "regardless of the insecure ramblings of Detective Russo." (now we know he's a good Doc - he's already got Marty pegged!)
++ Jim Dunbar for admitting to Dr. Galloway that even when he could see, there was room for improvement in himself and his life as a cop, as a man and as a husband and accepting that he could use this as an opportunity for a fresh start.
-- Marty Russo for obviously believing he could whip Jim if they went a few rounds - "Cop Beats Up Blind Guy" those are great headlines" (I often wonder if he had second thoughts about wanting to go a few rounds with Jim when he saw that left hook to Warren Doyle or when he found out that Jim loved a good fight!)

++ Detective Jim Dunbar for his quick comeback, "Cop Gets His Ass Kicked By Blind Guy" that's the headline you're worried about" - ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! (Dr. Galloway isn't the only one who's got Marty figured out!) ++ Christie Dunbar for understanding her husband's anxiety over the missing gym bag and continuing to search the restaurant even though it was obvious the bag was long gone - she wasn't above getting down on her hands and knees and searching! -- Lieutenant Gary Fisk for asking Tom and Marty what was going on between Karen and Jim. If it was that obvious to him that there was an ongoing problem, perhaps he should have brought Jim and Karen in for a little chat, just like he did with Jim and Marty! ++ Detective Jim Dunbar for keeping his emotions in check while waiting for the gun to be returned; his "shut the ____ up" wasn't overheard. If I'd had to listen to "what was best for Matthew" with all that going on in my head, I know my reaction would have been in my "very out loud voice!" ++ Detective Karen Bettancourt for answering right away "that I'd still be your partner....because you know how to solve cases and sometimes the way you do it, leaves me impressed. That's the kind of person I want to work with. So yeah, I'd still be your partner, no matter what! -- Detective Marty Russo for not really understanding or trying to understand the process that Jim had to go through to reach the point where he was finally ready and able to let go of a lot of things, not just the gun. Why can't you just give it to him for being a good detective? Jimmy Dunbar ++ for doing a pretty darn good job of distracting me on the plane. (We had some turbulence on the way home. I think I was right over an engine so I had to concentrate to hear it on the way back.) God bless the audio described versions. Karen ++ for telling Jim she admired the way he solved cases. He needed to hear a compliment once in a while Gary Fisk ++ for coming around and respecting Jim for the good cop that he is

Jim Dunbar ++ for being civil to Terry in the hospital and on the roof. It was forced and fake and must have been very hard to do, but it served a purpose. Karen ++ for believing in Jim enough to go to the roof with him a second time even though you obviously thought it a waste of time Dr. Galloway ++ for one of my favourite lines--something like "What you gotta be is healthy so that one day it's not you sitting there with a gun in your mouth. This is the first time you've ever admitted to me that you have limitations. That is a good start." (This said in response to Jim's statement that he needs to be a supercop to pass the test at the end of Marlon's Brando.)

Detective Jim Dunbar -- Love ya, Jimmy, but you gotta lose the raincoat (even if it is a Burberry)! Detective Tom Selway ++ For "Who do you think you've been working with the past four months? Eminem?" Detective Marty Russo ++ For "Bin Laden" (I know, it's kind of mean, but it's funny, too. Besides, Marty's way too interesting to be out of the game so soon).

Detective Jim Dunbar -- Love ya, Jimmy, but you gotta lose the raincoat (even if it is a Burberry)! Very funny, mlm88 (!), but what other garment is going to have an inside pocket roomy enough to stash the cane? As I think I said in "Dressing the Dunbars" (been a while), try tucking that thing in a sports jacket and Our Hero would look like he was smuggling a laundry drying rack.

Jim Dunbar ++ for conveying every emotion felt as you walked to the locker room to put the gun away for the last time without saying a word. Karen -- the look of admiration was great when he said he was giving up the gun, but Jim can't hear a look Tom ++ We got your back Jim

Jim ++ for finding humour in all the 'iddy biddy' cases in the pilot. (We're looking at medals of honour) Karen ++ for doing her job with the same care (not enthuisiasm) (sp?) as she would on an 'important' case even though she hated being stuck with all the nothing ones Fisk -- for booting Karen off the tongue collector case after all the hours she put in

Russo- -Now, really, would he have confronted Dunbar is he didn't think he had the advantage of being able to see.
Fisk--I suppose he couldn't believe he drew the short straw and ended-up with the blind guy with a badge and a gun.

Karen ++ for being the first to give Jim what he really wanted: a chance to do his job and the acceptance of his co-workers as an equal Marty -- for not knowing when to quit and therefore losing his overtime among other things Lt. Fisk ++ for his willingness to support Jim over the lost gun

Detective Marty Russo ++ Marty the Mime! (This is my first attempt at inserting a photo--hope it goes well!) Lt. Gary Fisk -- For just rolling your eyes and going along with it: "Apparently, Karen would like to leave, Jim, and instead of asking you directly, she'd like me to pitch in." Detective Jim Dunbar -- "Would you just let me talk?" For not noticing that Christie wasn't really interested in listening by that point, and letting her vent without trying to tie her problems into his day.
