And we should keep in mind that this site could be another very powerful avenue for our voices to be heard! Re the tvshowsondvd site: I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the case . . . but as of this morning I'm not convinced. I've been going back and forth with someone at the site who answered my initial message. It seems they thought Twentieth Century Fox would be in charge of releasing Blind Justice on DVD for the same reasons we all did at first: Bochco had his offices on the Fox lot. So I wrote back this morning (being very oblique and circumspect, of course), and said that a friend had recently spoken with Steven Bochco Productions and been told that ABC would be in charge of releasing Blind Justice on DVD, and did he have any info about who to contact there? I also told this person that SBP was no longer on the Fox lot. I asked where they got their info and what happened to the material -- wants, etc. -- that they compile on the site. I'll let you know if I get any sort of response. MODIFIED TO ADD: After a few more quick messages back and forth, I have been promised whatever licensing information he can dig up in a few weeks. He has not answered the direct questions I asked about who to contact, so I'm assuming he doesn't want to give out his sources. Fine by me. All my messages have been answered promptly and politely, so we shall see what we shall see.

I did remember, and I just checked Frank Grillo's website. He either wasn't sent our question about a DVD release date, or chose not to answer it. But there's nothing there. Given some of the questions are personal, about his hobbies etc and he answers those, I'm wondering if for whatever reason they chose not to send him the question.

I did that over the weekend ;D The new TV Guide came today and I did a quick glance through and saw the following letter-- "If a show like Commander in Chief is canceled before it has shown all its episodes and it is later released on dvd, can we expect those episodes to end up on the dvd?" and the response was "Generally, thats the case, Extras like unseen eps are often the best reason to buy those box sets." Now, if COmmander in Chief gets released on dvd before Blind Justice, there really is no justice!

Brace yourself -- it probably will because Geena Davis won a couple of awards for the character.

I wasn't sure where to put this but since this is discussing Blind Justice, I thought I might post it here.
I had the absolute pleasure of spending a little more time with Ron Eldard on Friday evening, after having the absolute pleasure of seeing Doubt again (a trip planned with very little lead time!)
During our conversation, I mentioned that, for very selfish reasons - my own benefit, rather than his - I started a campaign to try to save his Blind Justice job. He laughed and said he thought that was nice, '"but, no, no, no, it never would have worked" because, as he explained, "it wasn't ratings that killed Blind Justice." He said that what it boiled down to was that "ABC didn't own Blind Justice, rather there was some sort of special arrangement with Bochco and Fox and ABC paid a fee to air the show. So, why continue to air something you don't own and have to pay to air it? Why not replace it with something you do own?" And apparently that's what happened. He said there were absolutely no issues related to the ratings the show was able to achieve.
I told him that I was so pleased to at least have been able to be part of the 12 episodes that were aired. And again, he said, no, no, no, there were more than that. When I explained that on the east coast, we only got the 12, because our ABC affiliates didn't air the 13th, he told us that there are 22 episodes of the show!!! So, if, as and when someone, somewhere, finally decides to release it on DVD, we may be in for a real treat - and some new material !
But the ownership thing he mentioned may be exactly why we haven't seen it out on the store shelves just yet. Perhaps there are still legalities to be worked out.

This is murderous! Here's the good news: Nine more episodes we never saw. Here's the bad news: We may never see them! This is really amazing news, and straight from the star of the show. Longlashes, did you get the sense that RE meant "22 shot and in the can" or "22 planned/scripted?" I don't remember reading about unshot episodes that would never be aired (like Eyes) when Blind Justice was cancelled last May, do you? Nothing on Futon Critic, and the amazon listing is for 13 episodes, so now I'm REALLY curious. And confused. And frustrated.

I recall reading somewhere that the DVD release of another Bochco production, NYPD Blue, was delayed because of complications with the rights. It sounds as if something similar may be happening here. If only we knew that someone, somewhere was working on it . . . . Longlashes, did you get the sense that RE meant "22 shot and in the can" or "22 planned/scripted?" Good question. Was it absolutely clear that episodes 14-22 were actually produced?

Longlashes, did you get the sense that RE meant "22 shot and in the can" or "22 planned/scripted?" Good question. Was it absolutely clear that episodes 14-22 were actually produced? Absolutely clear? Am I being cross-examined? I didn't get the sense he was talking about "planned/scripted" - to tell you the truth, that thought never crossed my mind - because of the context of the conversation. Why would you even mention a specific number when you are talking about what was/wasn't aired if those episodes don't exist except on paper? I reiterate, when I mentioned how many Blind Justice episodes were actually aired, he said, "No, no, no, there's more than that." And I said, yes, 13 but the last episode was pre-empted for much of the country." And that's when he stated that there were 22 episodes.

Sorry about the cross-examination -- and thanks for the clarification. Speaking only for myself, I had to ask because we've gotten our hopes up so many times, only to be disappointed. I want to believe that won't happen again.

. . . if Commander in Chief gets released on dvd before Blind Justice, there really is no justice! According to amazon.com, episodes 1-10 of Commander in Chief are being released on DVD on June 27, and episodes 11-18 will be released on October 3.

Oh, longlashes, I apologize for starting something here! No, you weren;t being cross-examined -- we're excited, that's all. Thanks again for the great info. If this is a legal tangle, maybe that explains why we can't really get a 100% straight answer on who holds the rights: Paramount, ABC, or Bochco. And we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that when the DVD is released, we get those missing nine! Sigh. MODIFIED TO ADD: If Galloway's in any of those missing nine -- and if Jim gets the nerve to tell Christie he's fed to the back teeth with ballroom dancing -- I am hopping a plane to California and breaking into Steven Bochco's office to steal the masters so I can burn copies for us.
