Hey; I was there with Longlashes and that is exactly what he said - there were 22 episodes that were shot. I wish we could have seen them all. DRAT!

I have been gone all day and "AHHHHHHHH" I am screaming. Only I don't know if it's a happy one or not. (Well, ok it is). But, like everyone else, will we ever get to see them? I hope so! 22 episodes? I'm in heaven just thinking about it. I'm praying that someday we get to see them.
If you guys find out where they are, I'll come and look as pathetic as I can crutches and all so they take pity on me. If that doesn't work, I'll turn into the Evil Crutch Whacker and in my best imitation of Jimmy, I'll beat them out of someone!

If you get caught, don't forget to "lawyer up"! Seriously, I wonder if the unaired episodes are part of whatever is complicating the issue of the DVD release. Just thinking out loud here, as I have no knowledge of how things work in the entertainment industry. But there certainly doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to explain which shows get released on DVD and which don't -- at least not to someone looking in from the outside.

I don't know either. I was in Walmart today and saw things like Over There--which we already knew about, Different Strokes, Gimme a Break, and Law and Order: Trial by Jury. That show was on this past year and didn't make it, but the entire series is already out--along with Season One of Boston Legal. UGH!!

How exciting that there might be 9 more episodes out there somewhere; and how frustrating.

This *reminds* me of the fact that there is an entire arc of Daredevil comics that was never collected into a trade paperback edition, and is still missing from the collected hardcover series. Intellectual property right disputes between the writer and Marvel comics that have yet to be settled.
Now, I just wonder...why didn't Fox air this series if they were the ones that Bochco shopped it to first. Just think...maybe because 24 and a couple of other things were so strong at the time? It's all speculation at this point.

If Galloway's in any of those missing nine -- and if Jim gets the nerve to tell Christie he's fed to the back teeth with ballroom dancing -- I am hopping a plane to California and breaking into Steven Bochco's office to steal the masters so I can burn copies for us. \ I heard thst Galloway is in all those episodesd and Jim actually spat the dummy IN a dancing class and they took up Brazillian Judo instead. So when you doing the heist Maggie?

Now, I just wonder...why didn't Fox air this series if they were the ones that Bochco shopped it to first. Where did this tidbit come from?! I'd always heard that Blind Justice went straight to ABC as the follow-up to NYPD Blue , actually as a quid pro quo for Bochco making another year of NYPD Blue. Besides, in a very nice short letter, Steven Bochco cracked a little joke about "cable could never afford this show." ;D

Here's what I don't understand. If there were 22 episodes shot, why didn't ABC burn them off? Networks don't usually waste episodes that have been already been produced. At the very least they show them as a filler during the summer rerun season. I mean they aren't going to air them during sweeps week, but why not fill their dead time slots - of which ABC has plenty - with something that is at least new.
Ok so ABC had to buy the show to air it, but I'm sure Bochco would have been willing to negotiate with them to get the last episodes of this pet project on the air. No matter what, I am guessing ABC could have sold the commercial time and made some - if not a lot - of profit.
Please don't think I am cross examining anyone here, it just seems curious.

Wow! I'm also coming late but I think my reaction has been covered by others. I would think that ep. 13 and now these extra ones would be added incentive for a DVD release. Here's hoping! What do you think--do we mention in letters these new ones or do we keep our cards close to our chest?

My 2 cents... and it's only a guess: ABC bought the right to air13 episodes, which is a standard half-season order. So ABC (and the rest of the world where BJ's run) either passed on the back 9, or that's where the ownership issue gets muddy. Could it be that since no one bought the rights to air them, Bochco says he owns them but FOX says they do? Maybe our resident lawyer, MLM, understands this better.
